The Body Shop Haul | Glasgow Event

The Body Shop Haul and Glasgow Event
Hi Lovelies
I recently went to a blogger event at The Body Shop in Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow and while there we seen all the brand new Christmas range. The staff were very kind and told us all about all the products, they also had an skincare expert called Sharon who could help anyone with any questions about skincare. The event is the only second time I went to an event so it was a nice change and great place to meet other bloggers and try new products.

The Body Shop has added a lot of Christmas stuff in its range including new scents: the scents are as follows. Vanilla Chai, Frosted Berries and Spiced Apple. They come in a few forms such as shower gel, body butter, fragrance mist and  a few other things too.

Another amazing christmas product they have is beauty advent calendars. The last time I had an advent calendar was when I was a kid! I am so happy to see the many beauty options out now. The body shop offers the advent calendars in 3 different  sizes and prices. As well as the advent calendars they offer so many gift boxes too.

The Body Shop Christmas Range
What I bought

  • Bath Fizzers ( all 4 scents ) £1 / each - I tend to always go to Lush for  bath products but I thought I would have a nice little change and try these since they are adorable. The scents come in vanilla delight, candied plum, berry bliss and frosted flower.
  • Matte Liquid Lipsticks / £6 each - At the moment liquid lipsticks are so popular so I wanted to give these a whirl. I bought  Sydney amaryllis and Tahiti Hibiscus.
  • Himalayan Charcoal Glow Mask / £15 each - I love a good face mask so I just had to get this! This is great for unblocking pores and refreshing skin. The lady at the body shop recommending applying it with a brush so il be using a foundation brush with it haha.
  •  Vanilla Chai Candle / £10 each - I just love candles especially in the colder months. I have actually never got round to actually trying a body candle before but I am looking forward to giving this a try.
  • Spiced Apple Shower Gel / £5 each - Me and my partner love this shower gel already, we have tried it a few times since getting it. It has a spicy and a very subtle sweet scent to it.
  • French Lavendar Massage Oil / £14 each - My partner goes to wrestling training to the gym a lot each week so I got this to help relax his body after all the activities he does. I also use it to help me relax after a long day.
  • Frosted Berries Lip Balm / £4 - Defiantly one of my favourite buys of the day! This has a nice sweet delicate smell and helps keep lips soft.
  • Reggie Bath Sponge / £4 each - How adorable is this sponge, just love it

Caketoppers Photo Cupcakes | Review

Hi Lovelies
When it comes to anything sweet I am defiantly a fan because I just love all things cake, chocolate/sweets and desserts. I usually like to bake every now and again but I also like to buy cakes from other places too from time to time because I like to try new things out. I was very lucky to be contacted by the lovely people at Caketoppers to review these adorable cupcakes. The picture on the cupcakes is my mums gorgeous Airedale Terrier Ben.

Caketoppers are an online cake company that make a variety of different cakes and cupcakes too. The cupcakes above are photo cupcakes and to get them like that I sent the picture to them in an email and they put it on the cupcakes and I got them within 1 days! So a very fast service. The cupcakes come in classic and chocolate

My Thoughts
Honestly I have never tried a cupcake like it! It was defiantly different experience eating something that has a photo on it but once I got over the a fact it has actually an edible photo I was fine with it. The chocolate cupcake is in the gold wrapper and trust me it was blooming delicious with a thick but smooth layer of chocolate below the photo and underneath that was a soft chocolate sponge. It had to be the softest yummy cupcake I have ever tried, it was honestly heavenly! I was disappointed when it was finished haha.

The classic cupcake is in the silver cupcake case and it is a more traditional recipe cupcake which brought me back to the days when I used to bake with my nana. The cupcake has a lovely vanilla layer of icing followed by a fluffy vanilla sponge, this was equally as delicious as the chocolate cupcake.

I would totally recommend them to anyone especially if you are planning a party or something like that, since you can put any design on them you can be as creative as you want to be with these cupcakes. They also offer photos on cakes as well as the cupcakes and prices from them are £35.

My Thoughts on EcoTools Makeup Brushes

ecotools makeup brushes review
Hi Lovelies
When it  comes to makeup brushes I am quite picky and sticking with one particular kind of brush set is defiantly not me at all. Personally I like to try different brands to see what results each brands have. In the case of why I bought these brushes the answer is I was visiting my mums for the weekend and once I was there I realised that I totally forgot to bring my makeup brushes with me ( whoops silly me ) so I wanted to get some quickly so I went to my local ASDA and once there I seen these in my makeup section for under £8. Since they were so budget friendly I decided to give them a whirl and I've been using them for the past month to give my full and very fair verdict on them.

EcoTools is defiantly a brand I have heard of before but just haven't got round to using until recently. EcoTools is a brand that has been around for nearly 10 years now and they make makeup brushes which are made out of recycled bamboo, they also make other products such as bath products and hair brushes. All of EcoTools products are also cruelty free, vegetarian and vegan friendly

First Impressions
I was quite impressed at how many brushes I got in this packet, not only that it comes with a gorgeous green hemp cotton travel cotton carry case which I just love ( they are still in there now waiting for me to go use them at my mums house )

The Six Piece Starter Set Includes
  • 1x Blush Brush
  • 1x Eye Shading Brush
  • 1x Angled Eyeliner Brush
  • 1x Concealer Brush
  • 1x Lash and Brow Groomer
  • 1x Hemp Cotton Carry Case

The Six Piece Set and Uses
I know brushes are used for certain jobs but sometimes I use them for other makeup tasks too because they can be pretty great at multitasking.
  • Blush Brush - This brush was so delectable and ever so soft! I use it to apply blushers and also highlighters. For highlights its great for going over blusher to give your skin a nice glow.
  • Eye shading Brush - I used this for lots of different eyeshadow looks but thought it worked best at blending eyeshadows together.
  • Angled Eyeliner Brush - I didn't use this as an eyeliner brush because I much prefer to use liquid or gel liners. I used this to shade in my eyebrows with dry eyebrow makeup, it worked pretty well doing that job.
  • Concealer Brush -  This has to be the most softest concealer brush I have ever tried! Believe me has a delight to actually use it. It blends in concealer perfectly. Its also great for contouring as it is so easy to use.
  • Lash and Brow Groomer - I used to have one of these before but it disappeared so I am super glad this makeup brush set had one in it. This is great for brushing brows just before applying any brow makeup. I also use it to tame my brows before I tweeze my brows and it works wonderfully well for that! If you check my photos on Instagram you will see the difference its made.
  • Hemp Cotton Carry Case -  This is the perfect size for travelling as it can easily fit in a medium/large size handbag. I love the colour and design of this carry case.

My Thoughts
I really like using these brushes and they are perfect to travel with since they include a very handy travel carry case. As much as I enjoyed using these makeup brushes I can't say they are my favourite brushes in the world because they are very light weight, I am so used to using heavier brushes that are a little easier to control.  The design is gorgeous, I really love the colour of these brushes. The handles are bamboo and the metal round the bristles of the brush is a lovely recycled aluminium. The bristles are super soft but they do take a little longer to get enough makeup on them.

I really like all the brushes and they will be used every time I go travelling. My favourites from this are the blush brush and the eyebrow groomer for reasons I explained above.

Now the big question is ' Would I buy from EcoTools again?' The answer is a definite yes because they offer so many types of brushes in nice designs too. The company gets a high 5 from me for being a company that use recycled products to make products and thats one thing that needs to be done more of now with so much waste in the world today.
Rating 8/10

Pros
  • Made out of recycled materials
  • Cruelty Free
  • Vegan and Vegetarian friendly
  • Come with a carry case ( perfect for travelling)
  • Nice designs
  • Budget Friendly

Cons
  • Not a con for everyone but they are lightweight
  • Takes a few times for enough makeup on the brush

Can be found in ASDA I think, I also found them online too
  • EcoTools
  • Feel unique
  • Boots

Have you tried EcoTools before? If so what have you tried?

PS Silicone Brush Cleaner Review

PS Silicone brush cleaner
Hi Lovelies
When it comes to cleaning my makeup brushes I used to shudder at the thought,  also at times have been a bit forgetful the reason for that was because cleaning my brushes was such a long chore. I mean I have well over 20 makeup brushes now and use most of them once a week at least so cleaning that many brushes is quite rhetorical and for me personally I find it boring and also so long to actually do. Firstly you get the brushes that you have used in a week, then you wash them all by hand with warm water and PH neutral shampoo then rinse, after that you have to wait for them to dry. So it was no wonder I wanted to get something to help reduce the time it takes for me to wash my brushes and thats where this Primark PS silicone brush cleaner comes in, I got this while going on a mini shopping trip and spotted these in the beauty/makeup section in the shop.

Primark as we all know sells lots of things such as clothes, homeware and beauty products. I have only started to try a few of their beauty products on recently. They have lots of beaut products to choose from such as makeup, false nails and beauty tools. PS is a very budget friendly brand too.

First Impressions
I was lucky to discover this is my local Primark because it was next to the beauty tools such as their makeup drawers and bags. I wouldn't of had any idea that the shop sold brush cleaners if I didn't look there. I have wanted to try a brush cleaner for ages but thought they were a little expensive so thought this would a good first product to try.

Its packaged well and says what the product is with simple instructions on the front of it. I love thats it hot pink, I like all things pink so I can't complain.

What you need to clean makeup brushes

  • A spare 10-15 minutes
  • Delicate Shampoo/Shower gel
  • Warm water
  • Silicone Brush Cleaner
  • Hand Towel
  • Jar

How I use the brush cleaner

  1. First get all the makeup brushes that needed cleaning, followed by taking them to the bathroom.
  2. Put on the tap on followed by putting a little tiny bit of shower gel/shampoo or brush shampoo on the silicone brush cleaner. Put the makeup brush on the shower gel/shampoo and brush the brush round in circular motions. Whilst this happens, especially with foundation brushes it starts to remove the makeup.
  3. Once all the makeup is removed dry the makeup brushes on a towel and once you have dried them all to as much as possible let them dry near a window in a jar.

My Thoughts
I defiantly think using this brush cleaner from PS ( Primark) has made a big difference to how I actually clean my makeup brushes. Using this actually removes all the makeup thats on my makeup brushes and took way less time then it did me doing it all by hand. It also leaves them feeling soft and very to similar to they did when they were brand new.

They are two ridge sizes on the silicone brush cleaner so it can be used by most of your makeup brushes. I had no problem cleaning any of my makeup brushes and this made it almost effortless to clean my brushes, which is good because cleaning my makeup brushes before was a long task that I really didn't like doing.

Below I have put up two pictures; one of them being myself washing one of my foundation brushes in the sink with the silicone brush cleaner, you can see some of the excessive foundation on the ridges of the brush cleaner. The bottom photo is a comparison of two brushes before and after being cleaned and as you can tell by the photo they is a pretty big difference after using this.

With some of my brushes they have a little bit of staining but that has nothing to do with this cleaner at all, its because the makeup product such as blushers have actually stained on some bristles.

Rating 10/10

Pros
  • Budget friendly at £1.50
  • Cleans most types and sizes of makeup brushes
  • Travel friendly! it just so small you can put it in your handbag/bag while travelling
  • Easy to use
  • Saves time cleaning brushes

Cons
  • None - it really is a wonderful product

Do you use a makeup brush cleaner? if so which?

Gentleman's Christmas Gift Guide

gentlemans gift guide
gentleman gift guide

Hi Lovelies
I don't know about everyone else BUT once November comes all I can think about is...DARE I SAY IT? ... CHRISTMAS!!!Whoops, I might have said it too early but to be honest it's a holiday I love and always make sure it goes smoothly as possible. Buying gifts in advance well before the date is priority, this way it helps to reduce the chances of me running round Glasgow town centre looking for last minute gifts (trust me its happened to me before rushing about and it wasn't fun and I'm sure its happened to you all lovelies too :) ).

Buying for my family is relatively straight forward as I leave little hints here and there. Asking stuff like 'O, do you like this' or 'whats on your wish list' and usually it works like a charm. When it comes to my Dad, aka Beefy, I know what he would like for Christmas all year round because he's very vocal about it and I'm glad he is as it helps me to choose a gift for him. As an older gentleman ( he's 70) he likes to look smart and to be comfortable at the same time. He likes his technology(the IPAD) and uses it mostly as a newspaper and to keep up with the family; making sure everyone is good, bless him.

I have made a 50+  Gentleman's gift guide on what my dad and my grandad love! I hope this helps anyone thinking of what to get their elderly family members for Christmas.

Gentlemans Gift Guide
  1. Chums High Rise Easy Care Cavalry Trousers ( from £22.50 ) - I know how important it is for a lot of older gentleman to wear smart clothes and these are smart trousers that are easy to look after and are very durable too. These come in a variety of different colours  and also in 10 different waist sizes. I know how important pockets are to some people and these pair of trousers have 3 pockets. Chums offer lots of great products including lots of menswear.
  2. Marks and Spencers 5 Pairs of Cotton Rich Purple Mix Socks ( £10 ) - For some reason socks always seem to always go missing and finding 'the other half' as they say can be a right pain and trust me, my dad doesn't like it when he can't find a pair of socks so with that being said me and my mum make sure there is always a packet of socks under the Christmas tree. For me socks from Marks and Spencers are very good quality and last a long time even with being washed so many times. They also have lots of different colours and styles to choose from.
  3. Next Purple Cardigan ( £25 ) - Cardigans always look smart all year round and they are perfect for a gift too because they are warm and make anyone feel all warm and cosy. Cardigans can look smart or casual. Next has this lovely purple cardigan and they also have some more to choose from.
  4. Lush Veerapan Moustache Wax ( £10) - My dad has a beard and moustache and has done for many years. He likes to style it to look smart and I know many men of many ages have moustaches and beards so any beard/moustache products would be a perfect gift from Christmas. Lush have this one which comes in a retro style tin and is made of nearly 100% natural ingredients and smells like sandalwood oil.
  5. The Body Shops Modern Gents Shaving Kit ( £20)  - Following on from the above gift, this is a perfect gift set for a clean shaven man or men with facial hair to upkeep their beards and moustaches. This set has Maca root shave cream. Maca root shave relief cream and cruelty free shaving brush. It also has a bag to keep all the shaving products in.
  6. River Island Rose Gold Tone Oversized Watch ( £30 )  - No matter how much technology comes out there is nothing like having a smart watch on the wrist, I think watches have a certain charm about them and have done since they first came out.  This is a lovely watch as it stands out from the crowd and has a retro vibe to it.
  7. Argos iPad Mini 4 with Wifi 16GB ( £319) - I know this is one of the high end on the wishlist  for  a Christmas gift,  but my dad loves his iPad so he can read the news on it instead of buying the paper and he likes to check the horse results on it too. Another great reason of having an iPad is that its a great way to keep in contact with family, especially when they don't live near and all of us being in the modern era. I phone my parents daily on FaceTime and its great to be able to see them.
  8. Office Ted Baker Thrysa Velvet Slippers ( £94.99) - No matter a persons age, a comfortable pair of shoes is a must have. With shoes,  I think sometimes its worth investing in a good pair as feet are very important, especially as we get older. I believe that the most expensive item of clothing should be your shoes as the right shoe will maintain your posture, balance and keep you healthy. The slippers are just a lovely burgundy shade and slip on the foot so they are easy to put on and off. They have a lovely rustic and vintage look to them.

Have you starting Christmas shopping yet?
