Lush Northern Lights | Review

lush northern lights review
Hi Flamingos
I know its passed Christmas now but I still have lots of unused Lush Christmas themed items to go through yet. The most recent one I used was this one 'Northern Lights Bath Bomb' which my sister kindly got me for Christmas. This is a very colourful with bright purple, blue and yellow with a lovely floral smell too it too, the bath bomb is a quite a bit bigger than the usual bath bombs that are in lush too. I honestly knew what I got from here for Christmas because I could smell it through the wrapping paper haha.

I honestly look forward to the festive range at Lush every year and they have never disappointed me yet. Every boxing day without fail I have made it to the Lush boxing day sale to see what Lush bargains I can find and I usually some lovely products that I have been wanting to try.

lush northern lights bath bomb review
First Impressions
Has anyone ever played the game 'Dr Mario'? If you have this honestly reminds me of the capsules in that game which is quite quirky and fun I think. I love its unusual shape rather than the original lush round shape and I also like the how bright and bold this looks too.

Fragrance
As I said above I could smell this was a lush product before I even opened the present and I could defiantly tell it was a floral scent too. On the label it says it has the floral scents of 'Jasmine and Ylang Ylang'. I had super high expectations for how strong the floral scent it would be in the bath since it's so strong you can smell it through its packaging.

Display
Once I finally got my boiler to work ( don't ask I have been having problems with it over the past week and it ruined a previous lush bath experience 😂) I filled my bath up with warm water and once my bath  was full I put 'Northern Lights' in gently and as soon as I let go of it you could smell the aroma of 'Jasmine and Ylang Ylang' burst and honestly it was just lovely.

Northern Lights rolled around a lot and every turn it realised more of its bright colours, each end had bright colours and the purple combined with them to make an almost northern lights display. It has one of the nicest displays.

Once the whole of the northern light dissolved in the water it went into a dark lavender colour and I think it has sparkles in it too so it looked like the night sky.

Other favourite Lush displays

Final Thoughts
Northern Lights defiantly did impress me and I am so glad my sister bought me it for Christmas, she knows me very well haha. I loved everything about northern lights apart from the fact if you hold it while its in the water it leaves a little bit of a purple stain on your hands for about 10 minutes but apart from that its fab.

The smell is perfect for anyone who likes floral scents, I really liked the smell of this but to be honest it's not exactly not christmasy smell but to honest I don't mind that.

Now I am super excited to try the Valentines day lush range 💘

Have you bought anything in Lush lately?

Lush Boxing Day Haul

lush boxing day sale haul
 Hi Lovelies
Every year for the past few years I have had a routine of going to Lush on Boxing day to find some half price goodies. Last year was really busy and was very hectic that I didn't get a chance to find what I wanted and I was a bit nervous going this year incase it was super busy. Thankfully when I did go at roughly midday it was very quite, I think they were only about 4 other customers in the shop at the time and lots of half price goodies left. As a big Lush fan I filled my basket of products I haven't tried before and also products that I have loved for years.

Lush to me have always had brilliant seasonal products and the Christmas range is hands down the best one off the year ( closely followed by Easter and Halloween.) I know Lush is super busy during its sale because they only have the one day sale online and till the product sells out in the shop, so I feel more thankful I found these when I did.

Boxing Day Lush Haul
So White Bath Bomb £3.75 reduced to £1.87
This is something I haven't tried before but it smells amazing and looks quite nice too with it's little green leaf on top.

Never Mind The Ballistics £4.25 reduced to £2.12
I have not tried this one either which I am quite surprised by because it looks fantastic with its combination of yellow and red. It has a nice array of circus scent and banana. It  has a combo of a butter red top and a normal bath bomb on the bottom.

Father Christmas Bath Bomb £3.75 reduced to £1.87
I have seen this a few times over the years but I never actually bought it till now, so I am looking forward to giving this a try. It has a sweet smell and kinda reminds me of snow fairy.

Snow Fairy Shower Gel £9.95 reduced to £4.97
I just love this shower gel and it has been a favourite product of mine for a while now, this is a lovely pink with a blue shimmer and has a nice sweet smell to it.

Pip Gift 2016 £11.95 reduced to £5.97
This gift set includes butterball, lush luxury lush pud and also a penguin wrap. I have tried all the products in this but I loved them all so got this gift set. I know it's a gift set but I am reluctant to actually use it because it looks like a penguin and it is so adorable.

Satsuma Knot-Wrap 2016 £7.95 reduced to £3.97
In this gift set it includes the satsuma bath bomb and also a bright orange knot wrap. I haven't tried either before so I am looking forward to trying both in the very near future.

Total Saving = £24.78

My Christmas Wish List

Hi Lovelies
I honestly can't believe they is only ONE more week till Christmas, this year has been one of the fastest years ever, it has been far to quick thats for sure. This December was meant for me writing a few xmas inspired blog posts but I ended up being struck down with major tooth ache then we had the loss of my mums dog, so writing blog posts then was really at the back of my mind. I have only started blogging properly again a few days ago and thought it would be a brilliant idea to share with you all what I would love to get for Christmas, I know I won't get all this BUT nothing wrong with hoping to see some of these things.

Spectrum Glam Clam - £59.99
Spectrum brushes have a vast range of makeup brushes and honestly they are the most beautiful makeup brushes I have ever seen. I love all of their makeup brushes but this glam clam is just gorgeous with its clam cases to hold all the brushes and the mermaid themed brushes look so nice too.
Spectrum sell makeup brushes, gift sets, makeup bags and also makeup brush cleaners. All of their products are cruelty free and vegan.

Iron Fist Bat Wing Boots - £70.00
I have loved these boots for ages but they have been sold out every time I have wanted to get them, they are finally back in stock so hopefully in the near future, they will be on my feet. These are very vamp boots with a platform sole which I think would look amazing with any outfit.

Iron fist offer a range of alternative products such as clothes, shoes and handbags. All of their shoes are vegan.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Liquid Lipsticks  - £16.00
I have wanted to try these but I didn't want to pay customs and the ones in the UK weren't the ones I was after so when beauty bay introduced them I got so excited, I still have yet to order anything from there but fingers crossed very soon. I love the liquid lipsticks but eventually I want to try the highlighters too because they come in so many shades.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics have a few different products including lipstick, eyeshadow palettes and  highlighters. They are cruelty free and vegan too.

Collectif Vintage Check Dress - £62.50
I have always loved retro fashion and one of the best places in the UK to get your retro fashion fix is Collectif. They have lots of retro inspired clothes and I have a few pieces in my wardrobe. This dress is just gorgeous and I think it matches the autumn/winter months perfectly with the red and green, its also fitting so would should amplify my curves perfectly.

Collective have a wide range of the best retro clothes money can buy in my opinion, they have clothes accessories and dresses.

Urban Decay Naked Palette - £38.50
I have heard so much about the naked palettes for years but I have still to get my hands on one for myself so yes this is a big one on my wish list. This palette has 12 neutral shades in a fun palette with a makeup brush. Its been far too long since I have had an urban decay palette.

They are 3 different urban decay naked palettes now, I want to try them all but I would like to try the first one to see how it is. Urban decay offer lots of different makeup from vibrant lipstick, palettes and makeup setting sprays.

Skinny Dip iPhone 6 Cow Print Case - £12
My phone case at the moment has had better days and I think now is a very good time to get a new phone case. I just love cows, I think they are just adorable so this phone case would be perfect for me and would love to get this for Christmas

Skinny Dip have lots of different products including phone cases, bags and lots of different
gift items too,

Have you got a Christmas wish list? if so leave a link below

Lush Snow Fairy Body Conditioner | Review

Lush Snow Fairy Body Conditioner Review
Hi Lovelies
With Christmas just under two weeks away, I can't help but get excited for the big day! I am so looking forward to visiting my mums for the Christmas holidays with the kids, we have missed her loads. I have wanted to do more Christmas themed posts this month but I've been plagued with bad luck this month so hopefully the rest of the month with pan out more smoothly.

Lush has been tempting me for years with all of their themed items but with Christmas items its just that extra bit inviting especially as its one of my favourite holidays of the year. The product range is massive and they seems to be sparkles everywhere and I honestly can't resist buying sparkly things, they are just to good not to get and thats where this lovely 'Snow Fairy Body Conditioner' comes in.... it is so shimmery!
Lush Snow Fairy Body Conditioner Review
Snow Fairy Body Conditioner  - From £7.95
4 Key Ingredients
💜Cherry Infusion
💜Mango Butter
💜Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter
💜Avocado Butter

First Impressions
I just love the little tubs for these, they are in the typical lush tubs that are very easy to open and close. I got the smaller tub because I wanted to try it first to see if I liked it before committing to buying a more expensive product. Even though I absolutely love the design for this, I think it would of been better if it had a similar bottle to the snow fairy shower gel.

Final Impression
This smells exactly like the snow fairy shower gel, I actually prefer this one more because them smells is a bit stronger and lasts longer too. It has a nice blue shimmer to the moisturiser too but its not that noticeable on the skin, it gives a very nice delicate shimmer. I used about a walnut amount for full coverage and I still have lots of the product left and I bought it over a month ago, so its well worth the money in my opinion. I really wish I bought the bigger version, but then again Il probably pick it up in the boxing day Lush sale haha.

Have you tried anything from the Lush Christmas range?

Lush Mistletoe | Review

Lush mistletoe review
Hi Lovelies
It is officially December and that can only mean one thing... Christmas!! I love this time of year because no matter where you go you are reminded of Christmas; from the shop display windows, festive songs playing and Christmas trees decorated beautifully. As for Lush they deliver as usual with their products and this year has been my favourite yet with their products. I recently used 'Mistletoe' from my recent Christmas Haul

If you love Christmas and Lush than this time of year in the shop is defiantly for you! They are many themed products with product names matching products too including this one. I am actually so excited for the Lush boxing day sales, I will be getting a large haul fingers crossed.

Lush mistletoe review
Mistletoe Bath Bomb - £4.25
Cruelty Free
Vegan

First Impressions
Even though this isn't the brightest and sparkliest looking thing in the  Christmas Lush collection it still stood out to me because is a lovely pink shade with a lovely light green with a mistletoe design. I just love that lush has such an amazing amount of Christmas products this year, they all look different with so many more designs this year.

As soon as I picked it up I could smell a very strong but beautiful floral scent from it. I am very happy that it has a floral scent because the first thing you think of when you hear mistletoe you think of flowers and also a little bit of romance.

My Thoughts
After putting this into my lovely warm bath it started to melt slowly, the first two colours that showed was a  bright pink and a gorgeous purple colour until they both combined with each other like a match made in heaven to make a gorgeous purple shade. The whole thing crumbled within minutes without any unmelted bits left.

Me and my partner loved the smell of the bath; the scent of this bath was jasmine absolute, ylang ylang oil and vertivet oil. The bath is based on romance; like mistletoe. I can totally agree with that because it was very relaxing for us both in the bath.

It was nice relaxing bath and as soon as I came out the bath I put on snow fairy body conditioner and the combination of both of the smells is gorgeous! I could smell them both even after the next day.

Winter Inspired Bedding Wish List

winter inspired bedding wish list

Hi Lovelies
In the summer I really don't care to have a duvet on because its usually far to hot and clamy with it on so I usually just wear a blanket and cuddle up with my partner. As soon as Autumn/winter comes the weather changes which feels like happens over night, then its time to bring out the duvets again! In the autumn/winter  I like to bring out more season duvets such as neutral or autumn/winter shades such as red, grey and green. I also love Christmas themed bedding during the winter months because it is so festive and warming to have that in the colder months.

Not only do I like having winter duvets I like to have the matching bedding such as the sheets, pillow cases and also cushions. With them all matching I feel it makes a house more of a home and so much more cosier, I know it might sound daft but thats what it feels like to me.

What bedding I would like
Ted Baker Cotlin Duvet Cover  between £95-£115 I know this may seem a little bit on the expensive side but I just love the way Ted Baker products  look. They look very well made and very soft too since its made out of 50% cotton and 50% linen. I love the pastel pink shade of this and it would match my pink bedroom perfectly. This comes in sizes of double to super king.

Julian Charles Kennedy Charcoal Grey Luxury Check Duvet Cover £28-£48  Now I just love anything in a check pattern, the design is simple yet classical, it would suit any home and would love gorgeous any season. This gorgeous bedding is in the Julian Charles bedding sale and is a bargain now with 60% off. The bedding comes with lots of matching products including curtains and comes in the sizes of single to super king.

Marks and Spencer's Batik Print Bedding £39.50-£69 I just love Marks and Spencer's bedding products and have bought from them for years because I find the quality of the clothes and homeware to be a very high standard. I just love the design of this and I feel it has a Christmas vibe to it too. Another great thing about this I love is its made out of 100% sustainable cotton and comes in sizes of single to super king.

Dunelm Dorma Lomond Red Duvet Cover £29-£59 I just love checked and tartan bedding and to me its just the cherry on the ice-cream of winter bedding. The combination of bright red and dark green is the perfect mixture for the festive season. This bedding is made out of cotton and comes in sizes of single to super king.

What bedding do you like in the winter months?

The Body Shop Vanilla Chai Candle | Review

the body shoo vanilla chai candle review
Hi Lovelies
I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend so far, I have had a nice weekend so far visiting my mum and family. I came over a little earlier than usual because we wanted to see my mums dog who has been recently diagnosed with cancer, so we wanted to spend some quality time with him and take some nice family pictures together. Anyway onto todays post as you all might know I am a bit candle mad, I think I have near on 20 candles in my flat at the moment. I just love the way they look and also how nice then can smell too.

I honestly didn't know that the body shop actually made candles until I went to a recent 'The body shop event in Glasgow' and thats where I got this one from. I also noticed they also do a few other candle scents as well including Green Tea and Lemon, Spiced Apple and Frosted berries. I was lucky enough to get this one in a goody bag when I went to the event. I have had it nearly a month now and I have used it a fair few times so I thought it was the right time to share my thoughts on this candle with you all.
the body shop vanilla chai candle review
Online and In-store
The Body Shop Vanilla Chair Candle - £10
Paraffin free
Cruelty Free*

First Impressions
My first impressions with this were as follows; The box it was in is beautiful, it has a simple christmasy design which stands out so nicely. I was whole heartedly expecting the candle inside to have a similar design on it but no, it was just nothing at all. It was just a simple plain candle with no labels or nothing. I know I sound like I may be over reacting a bit but I have seen so many candles do so well with candle designs and I thought this would be quite similar since it costs £10 to buy.

Apart from that small disappointment it was a nice heavy jar and you can smell the vanilla chair scent straight away. It is a very nice sweet scent which isn't too powerful but nice and delicate. The scent matches the festive period so much because it is a very warming smell.

My Thoughts
Over the passed few weeks I have used this candle most days and I just love it and Il tell you all why I love it so much. Firstly its sturdy, I have had candles before and sometimes the glass feels very unsteady and it made me worry bit about breaking but this one feels strong and built to last. Secondly the scent it just gorgeous, it honestly gives Yankee Candle a run for its money. The smell has top nots of spicy chai which is cardamon and star anise and base notes which is a delicate vanilla scent which is vanilla extract from Madagascar.

It took about 20 minutes for the whole room to smell like this gorgeous candle and I could even smell it in my hallway too. The wick is thick and sometimes can be a right blooming pain to light but once its lit its fine and doesn't go out unless you want it too. The candle has very gentle glow and isn't to bright at all.
the body shop vanilla chai candle
Rating 4/5

Pros

  • Long lasting ( I still have over half after nearly a month using most days)
  •  Gentle light
  • Gorgeous smell of cardamon, star anise and vanilla
  • Feels strong and worth the price
  • Paraffin Free

Cons
  • Plain candle ( I know some people may like this but the box has a nice design and was expecting something similar  on the candle)

Have you tried The Body Shop candles before? What is your favourite candle brand/scent ?

Lush Christmas Haul

Hi Lovelies
As promised I went to Lush and treated myself to some products from their Christmas Collection. It was only recently that I used up all of the Halloween Haul I got a couple of months ago, so I knew it was about time I got some of the Christmas range. For me autumn and winter is my most favourite time of year at Lush because I just love it when they bring out their themed collections such as Halloween, Christmas and Valentine's day. The designs are themed and I have noticed they are also a bit more sparkly too.

Unsurprisingly as we all know Christmas is the most busiest time of the year in any shop, and lush is no different as they are loads more products in the Christmas collection. They are a variety of products such as many types gift boxes, soaps and bathbombs etc. I could of stayed in the shop all day because they was so much to choose from and I really wanted to get everything haha! I was also told that everything in the Christmas range in vegan, so thats great to know.

I noticed the paper bags are Christmas themed too which I find just so darn adorable! It's a light blue with a star shaped bubble bar on it, its almost like a mini present ( to myself of course haha)

Lush Christmas 2016What I bought

  • Shoot for the stars Bath Bomb - £4.25 This is a bright blue with three gold sparkly stars around it! The stars are honey scented and the blue part is a zesty orange scent, I really can't wait to try this and see what it looks like in the bath.
  • Mistletoe Bath Bomb - £4.25 This is just a gorgeous pink and light green shade, I just love it. It has a delicate floral scent which is ylang ylang.
  • Jester Bubble Bar - £6.50 I just love bubble bars because the can be used more than once. This one is a little jester and its bright red, pink and yellow with a blue ribbon and a bell on. This has a nice zesty smell which is bergamot, tangerine and sicilian mandarin oil.
  • Snow Fairy Body Conditioner - £7.95 100ml Snow fairy  is my all time favourite shower gel and I wait all year round till it  come back in stock because I love the smell of sweet candy floss. I didn't get the shower gel this year but this instead to change things up a little.

Gentleman's Christmas Gift Guide

gentlemans gift guide
gentleman gift guide

Hi Lovelies
I don't know about everyone else BUT once November comes all I can think about is...DARE I SAY IT? ... CHRISTMAS!!!Whoops, I might have said it too early but to be honest it's a holiday I love and always make sure it goes smoothly as possible. Buying gifts in advance well before the date is priority, this way it helps to reduce the chances of me running round Glasgow town centre looking for last minute gifts (trust me its happened to me before rushing about and it wasn't fun and I'm sure its happened to you all lovelies too :) ).

Buying for my family is relatively straight forward as I leave little hints here and there. Asking stuff like 'O, do you like this' or 'whats on your wish list' and usually it works like a charm. When it comes to my Dad, aka Beefy, I know what he would like for Christmas all year round because he's very vocal about it and I'm glad he is as it helps me to choose a gift for him. As an older gentleman ( he's 70) he likes to look smart and to be comfortable at the same time. He likes his technology(the IPAD) and uses it mostly as a newspaper and to keep up with the family; making sure everyone is good, bless him.

I have made a 50+  Gentleman's gift guide on what my dad and my grandad love! I hope this helps anyone thinking of what to get their elderly family members for Christmas.

Gentlemans Gift Guide
  1. Chums High Rise Easy Care Cavalry Trousers ( from £22.50 ) - I know how important it is for a lot of older gentleman to wear smart clothes and these are smart trousers that are easy to look after and are very durable too. These come in a variety of different colours  and also in 10 different waist sizes. I know how important pockets are to some people and these pair of trousers have 3 pockets. Chums offer lots of great products including lots of menswear.
  2. Marks and Spencers 5 Pairs of Cotton Rich Purple Mix Socks ( £10 ) - For some reason socks always seem to always go missing and finding 'the other half' as they say can be a right pain and trust me, my dad doesn't like it when he can't find a pair of socks so with that being said me and my mum make sure there is always a packet of socks under the Christmas tree. For me socks from Marks and Spencers are very good quality and last a long time even with being washed so many times. They also have lots of different colours and styles to choose from.
  3. Next Purple Cardigan ( £25 ) - Cardigans always look smart all year round and they are perfect for a gift too because they are warm and make anyone feel all warm and cosy. Cardigans can look smart or casual. Next has this lovely purple cardigan and they also have some more to choose from.
  4. Lush Veerapan Moustache Wax ( £10) - My dad has a beard and moustache and has done for many years. He likes to style it to look smart and I know many men of many ages have moustaches and beards so any beard/moustache products would be a perfect gift from Christmas. Lush have this one which comes in a retro style tin and is made of nearly 100% natural ingredients and smells like sandalwood oil.
  5. The Body Shops Modern Gents Shaving Kit ( £20)  - Following on from the above gift, this is a perfect gift set for a clean shaven man or men with facial hair to upkeep their beards and moustaches. This set has Maca root shave cream. Maca root shave relief cream and cruelty free shaving brush. It also has a bag to keep all the shaving products in.
  6. River Island Rose Gold Tone Oversized Watch ( £30 )  - No matter how much technology comes out there is nothing like having a smart watch on the wrist, I think watches have a certain charm about them and have done since they first came out.  This is a lovely watch as it stands out from the crowd and has a retro vibe to it.
  7. Argos iPad Mini 4 with Wifi 16GB ( £319) - I know this is one of the high end on the wishlist  for  a Christmas gift,  but my dad loves his iPad so he can read the news on it instead of buying the paper and he likes to check the horse results on it too. Another great reason of having an iPad is that its a great way to keep in contact with family, especially when they don't live near and all of us being in the modern era. I phone my parents daily on FaceTime and its great to be able to see them.
  8. Office Ted Baker Thrysa Velvet Slippers ( £94.99) - No matter a persons age, a comfortable pair of shoes is a must have. With shoes,  I think sometimes its worth investing in a good pair as feet are very important, especially as we get older. I believe that the most expensive item of clothing should be your shoes as the right shoe will maintain your posture, balance and keep you healthy. The slippers are just a lovely burgundy shade and slip on the foot so they are easy to put on and off. They have a lovely rustic and vintage look to them.

Have you starting Christmas shopping yet?
