Cafe Strange Brew, Glasgow

Since moving to Glasgow I have been to many cafes and restaurants! The amount of Vegan options available here is just amazing. Not only does Glasgow have vegan themed restaurants/cafes other restaurants and cafes also cater for vegans so its much easier to go out with friends.

Cafe Strange Brew opened its doors in Shawlands, the Southside of Glasgow in late 2015 and every time me and my partner go past it in the car its always busy, to the point in which there is a queue outift! We wanted to know what all the fuss was about and to see if they had any vegan options and if they were actually anything Strange......

I walked to the cafe which was simple to get to if you know Shawlands well, its literally next door to the coop. Parking is literately behind the shop or in the Shawlands arcade which has 2 hours free parking. Inside the cafe it has a good amount of tables to choose from and also a clipboard menu with all the food options on it.

The staff were honestly some of the best staff we have seen at any cafe, they were helpful and made you feel at home. While sitting down we were very impressed by the menu as it has many things that many cafes don't offer, it also has Vegan options, " Hallelujah" and not just salad, lots of yummy food and drinks. It took us ages too actually choose what we wanted because everything sounded lovely.

When I finally chose i went up to order our food and drinks which were; soya matcha latte, vegan strawberry and peppercorn cake and also leek and potato soup. It took about 10 minutes for all of our food and drinks to arrive and when it did we were so bloody impressed! EVERYTHING looks amazing and almost too good to eat and drink. The soya matcha tea was perfect and it had a tea cup design on it, 'how cool is that?'. The cake was spicy and omg it was just delicous with the matcha latte.

I very impressed with Cafe Strange Brew and we defiantly understand why sometimes they are queues! Its because they are so darn BRILL! We will be returning thats for sure and would recommend it to anyone visiting Glasgow, Southside.

Finding Retro/Vintage Fashion on a Budget

Hi Flamingos! I hope you are all well?
I have loved vintage/retro style for as long as I can remember and I have a few reasons on why I love vintage style so much, firstly is Dita Von Teese! She wears the most amazing clothes and her house is a vintages fans heaven. Secondly has to be 40s-60s films and I remember I used watch with my nana, she loves watching musicals and they always wore fabulous costumes and it made me want to wear something similar. Lastly its the fact I love the way the clothes look on me! I bought a retro dress a few years back to see if I would suit it and I haven't looked back since! Vintage style is everything for me.

As much as I love vintage/retro fashion sometimes it can be rather expensive, don't get me wrong they are worth the money but I love getting bargains regardless. I have a few ways on how I save money on wearing retro clothes and I will share with you all on how I save the pennies when it comes to wearing vintage style fashion.
1. Shop the sales
Sometimes the discounts are MASSIVE and I mean they are such bargains! I bought 2 dresses the other day from Lady V London which were the last in my size (Lucky me yay) and both of them cost me the same as the usual price of 1 dress, so basically I got 2 dresses for the price of one.

I like looking at sales not just online but also in store and recommend looking at both if you can. I usually buy online but sometimes in store has some gems too.

2. Charity Shops
I love going to charity shop as often as possible because you can find not only bargains but unique clothes too! I have found good name brands in charity shops and also some good quality dresses too such as the one I am wearing in these pictures. The dress is originally from quiz and cost me a bargain price of £2, I made it look more vintage my adding a high waisted belt which i think did the trick.

Not only do they have some nice fashion they also have products that you can style vintage style clothes with too such as brooches, earrings and scarves.

3. Ebay, Gumtree and Selling pages
Another amazing place to find bargains and unique products, you can find branded products such as hell bunny, Collectif and Voodoo Vixen for a fraction of the price. Also on there is unbranded products that can easily made to look more vintage/retro with a few tweaks here and their.

They are many selling pages online and my favourites are on Facebook as they sell some amazing branded products.

4. Tweak clothes you already own
I do this very often with the clothes I already have in my wardrobe, it would cost me far too much to replace everything so I usually just wear trousers with a plain t-shirt or jumper and put on my high waist belt and style my hair vintage and it automatically makes an outfit look vintage. You can also add a brooch for an extra finishing touch.

5. Car boot Sales and Fairs
Not only are these places amazing for vintage furniture and home decor, they can also be treasure troves for finding affordable vintage fashion. Look in magazines and online for car boots thats are dedicated for vintage/retro style fashion.

Tights ( Marks and Spencer)
Shoes ( Irregular choice) present 3 years ago

I hope you enjoyed this post just as much as I did, I will be adding more and more fashion posts in the not so distant future so keep an eye for them.

Do you have any tips on buying budget vintage fashion?

Steak Cattle and Roll | Glasgow

steak cattle and roll glasgow review
Hi Lovelies
I must admit I just love a good *Veggie* Burger and usually it can be a right pain to actually find a restaurant that actually sells vegan/vegetarian options. Most veggie burgers I have tried before in the past didn't have dairy free cheese or nice sauces and as you can all kinda guess it makes a burger pretty darn dry if you don't have those things. I went out my way to actually find a restaurant that sold a decent variety of vegan/vegetarian burgers and thats where I found Steak Cattle and Roll.

Steak Cattle and Roll is very near to Glasgow central on Sauchiehall Street. It offers a variety of different food from burgers, salads and delicious dairy free milkshakes. Its not 100% vegan/vegetarian but it offers a lot of different vegan options on the menu, I for one for spoiled for choice on what to actually order because everything looks so darn yummy.

The Restaurant
It really reminds me of a 50s style diner with a modern twist. They are lots of seats too choose from including booths, classic chairs and a bar area, so lots too chose from if visiting by yourself, going with your friend/partner or group.  The decor is pleasant and the music isn't too loud either so its a great backing sound for when your'e eating and talking with company.

The restaurant can be reached fairly easily its on a main road so it be reached by car, walking or getting the bus. Its on the main road of sauichiehall street lots to other restaurants/bars and nightclubs.

 The Food
You really are spoiled for choice here as the restaurant has lots of hearty comfort food to choose from the food isn't going to win you in points for being the healthiest food in the world but it is great food to have as a treat or for when going out.

The menu has everything marked out simply so you know what you  are buying and its suitable for vegan or vegetarians. Its also marked clearly with the price. They have two menus; one for food and the other is for desserts and drinks.

Food choices *veggie options*
  • Burgers
  • Wraps
  • Salad
  • Fries & Sides
  • Nachos
Drinks & Desserts
  • Soda
  • Alcohol including wine
  • Hot drinks
  • Shakes including alcohol versions
  • Selection of cakes including a vegan option

What I ordered
The Classic Vegan Burger
This burger has a vegan burger topped with vegan mozzarella, served with salsa, rocket and red slaw with pan fried onion and bun.

The burger itself tasted divine, each bite was heavenly but as much as I loved eating this burger I could not pick it up to eat, I had to cut it into quarters so I could eat it. Even after all that it made a little bit of a mess so I would recommend getting a napkin or two. The burger is very filling and I ended up taking the rest of it home and having it later on in the evening, they put the rest of the burger in a  box neatly which is great if you can't finish it all.

Even though I loved the salad in this burger I think it was a touch OTT but you know its each to their own really. I loved this burger and the combination of the slaw, salsa and vegan mozzarella made this burger absolutely divine with its sweet/savoury elements.

Seasoned chips
HEAVEN IN A BASKET; no seriously if you love chips then you will love these chips. They are chips with skin left on so they have a bit of crunch and lots of flavour.

They are so many chips in the basket they can be shared which is great if you are going out with friends/family.

Things I loved

  • Very friendly staff; We were welcomed very quickly when we got to the restaurant and we got to choose out of the chair which we would like and once we were seated we got menus and a decent amount of time to choose drinks and order food.
  • Comfortable seating; Honestly you will be surprised how many restaurants have uncofertable seating. This restaurant has very comfy seating especially the booth seating.
  • Lots of vegan/vegetarian options; Usually going to a restaurant only has a few options but this place has so many options including food, desserts and drinks

WWE RAW | Glasgow

Hi LoveliesAs some of you may know I am a big fan of wrestling and have been since I was 9 years old and  I remember that day very well and it was a match from WWF (now WWE) and it was Triple H vs The Rock,. I watched the whole programme mesmorised with my brother and from that day onwards I have watched wrestling and I still love it as much now then I did then. Instead of watching it with my brother I now enjoy watching it with my partner. In April I went to WWE Glasgow event and I was about 12 rows from the front so the views were pretty amazing and I got some amazing photos from that event including my favourite wrestler Roman Reigns. That event was the first time I ever went to a wrestling event and wow it was so damn epic and the experience was top notch. During the show we found out the next time they would be in Glasgow it would be a live event and me and my partner looked at each other and we knew we needed tickets for that event.

The SSE Hydro, Glasgow UK
This is very near the centre of town and has lots of bus routes too it. We set off an hour and half early and it still had massive queues at the event so keep that in mind if visiting the SSE Hyrdro in your car.

On site parking multi-story parking / 2-12 hours £8
Getting a parking space was fine as they had parking attendants, so they was no rush to find a space as they are plenty to go around. You can pay for your ticket before or after the  event but I suggest beforehand because the queues are nuts after the event because everyone wants to go home at the same time.

A few little food places to choose from including: Rocksalt, Hot Wok big grill and wee grill.
I didn't get anything apart from some chocolate and 2 large iron bru for me, my partner and my son. The food queues are a little lengthy so I suggest getting there early to an event.

Its easy enough to get too by car, train or walking. It has disabled access, more info on that on their website.

We got here by car and the directions were simple enough for us to find the event and find parking too. It was also clear on were the event was and directions to the hydro. Getting to the hydro from the car parking lot took us less than 10 minutes. Queuing was very long and it took us absolutely ages to collect the tickets from the box office so my advice for anyone is make sure you have tickets/confirmation email beforehand because  we almost missed the start of the show.

The Event
We actually got decent seats on the first tier so we had a pretty good view of the ring. As soon as we sat down the show was about to start and lights were all over the place and not long after that the bloody loudest fireworks Ive ever heard in my life!!! On the TV you don't take notice but at the event I jumped out of my seat they were that loud haha.

All the matches were pretty amazing but wow they were so many adverts and at some point I thought they were never going to end. Honestly I know they have a network but keep going on about it, is going to get on anyones nerves.

The show started at 7am and finished just after 11 at night so the whole night was jam packed with lots of wrestling so I defiantly feel like we got our moneys worth.

My Favourite Match

5 on 5 Traditional Elimination match between Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Braun strowman and Chris Jericho
This was honestly my highlight match, hearing my favourite wrestlers music play really made my adrenaline run for the match ahead! This match was epic and all started because they couldn't agree on who should be uncharge of the RAW group against smackdown for the survivor series.

The feud started with Christ Jericho and Kevin Owens wanting to be in charge of the group and the other 3 were totally against the idea and a brawl started, thats when Stephanie came out and told them to settle their differences in a fatal 5 way ahead of the survivor series.

Between the other matches Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens tried to get Braun Strowman on their team ahead of the fatal 5 way but he simply replied 'I work alone' when he said that he  almost when onto Chris Jericho's list.

The match just brilliant, as always Kevin and Chris worked together which in turn made Seth and Roman work together in some part, as always Braun was the lone wolf and had no problem taking them all on at once. Eventually Braun ended up through a table and Kevin ended up winning the match by accidentally pinning his best buddy Chris.

Other Highlights

  • Noam Dar Debuts - Dar has been a wrestler for many years in Glasgow and was called up by WWE with a contract, His first match was a tag team match with tag team partner Brian Kendrick against Sin Cara and Rich Swann. They lost the match and Brian blamed him but he soon regret it when did his finisher on him showing him why he's at WWE. He got an amazing standing ovation and everyone was cheering him on.
  • Charlotte Leads the women's Raw Team -  The team consisted of Baylee, Alicia Fox, Nia Jax and Sasha Banks.
  • The New Day lead Raws tag team - In the group are Cesaro and Sheamus, Enzo Amore and Big Cass, Golddust and R-Truth and Gallows and Anderson.  I loved that the New Day were dressed in traditional Scottish clothes.

Are you a fan of wrestling? Have you been to a show before?

The Body Shop Haul | Glasgow Event

The Body Shop Haul and Glasgow Event
Hi Lovelies
I recently went to a blogger event at The Body Shop in Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow and while there we seen all the brand new Christmas range. The staff were very kind and told us all about all the products, they also had an skincare expert called Sharon who could help anyone with any questions about skincare. The event is the only second time I went to an event so it was a nice change and great place to meet other bloggers and try new products.

The Body Shop has added a lot of Christmas stuff in its range including new scents: the scents are as follows. Vanilla Chai, Frosted Berries and Spiced Apple. They come in a few forms such as shower gel, body butter, fragrance mist and  a few other things too.

Another amazing christmas product they have is beauty advent calendars. The last time I had an advent calendar was when I was a kid! I am so happy to see the many beauty options out now. The body shop offers the advent calendars in 3 different  sizes and prices. As well as the advent calendars they offer so many gift boxes too.

The Body Shop Christmas Range
What I bought

  • Bath Fizzers ( all 4 scents ) £1 / each - I tend to always go to Lush for  bath products but I thought I would have a nice little change and try these since they are adorable. The scents come in vanilla delight, candied plum, berry bliss and frosted flower.
  • Matte Liquid Lipsticks / £6 each - At the moment liquid lipsticks are so popular so I wanted to give these a whirl. I bought  Sydney amaryllis and Tahiti Hibiscus.
  • Himalayan Charcoal Glow Mask / £15 each - I love a good face mask so I just had to get this! This is great for unblocking pores and refreshing skin. The lady at the body shop recommending applying it with a brush so il be using a foundation brush with it haha.
  •  Vanilla Chai Candle / £10 each - I just love candles especially in the colder months. I have actually never got round to actually trying a body candle before but I am looking forward to giving this a try.
  • Spiced Apple Shower Gel / £5 each - Me and my partner love this shower gel already, we have tried it a few times since getting it. It has a spicy and a very subtle sweet scent to it.
  • French Lavendar Massage Oil / £14 each - My partner goes to wrestling training to the gym a lot each week so I got this to help relax his body after all the activities he does. I also use it to help me relax after a long day.
  • Frosted Berries Lip Balm / £4 - Defiantly one of my favourite buys of the day! This has a nice sweet delicate smell and helps keep lips soft.
  • Reggie Bath Sponge / £4 each - How adorable is this sponge, just love it

Tantrum Doughnuts | Glasgow

Tantrum Doughnuts review
Hi Lovelies
When it comes to doughnuts I am very much like  Homer Simpson! Ever since I can remember I have went to Tesco and bought the pink doughnuts with the sprinkles on them. Since then I have discovered more types of doughnuts than the usual ones I like such a krispy kreme which have many different flavours to choose from, my favourite at the moment is the nutella doughnut which is just delicous. I recently discovered another gem for  my doughnut book and its a doughnut shop in Glasgow called Tantrum Doughnuts.

I first spotted Tantrum doughnuts on trip advisor on the top 10 bakeries in Glasgow and the name of the place just drew me in. I honestly feel like the cookie monster when he sees cookies except its doughnuts with me. The shop was first opened in late 2015 and is like a small coffee shop with hot drinks, smoothies and lots of different types of doughnuts to choose from.

Tantrum Doughnuts review
The coffee shop is placed on a side street on old Dumbarton road.
35 Dumbarton Road
G3 8RD

The Shop
Its a very small coffee shop but it does have seating inside if you are looking to visit with a friend or someone ;). They are also dog friendly so its nice place to go for coffee and to bring your dog along after a walk.

I bought 4 doughnuts and a slush. The doughnuts are fresh and made in small batches and are hand crafted not made by machines, so once they run out for the day thats it.

The Food
They had an impressive choice of hot drinks, milkshakes, slushies and doughnuts. They are displayed so its a little bit easier to choose which ones you would like. They have the names next to them and the prices for eating in or taking away and of course the prices of the doughnuts. On the wall is the drinks menu and also the price list alongside.

Doughnut choices
  • Blueberry old fashioned, Lemon glaze with crystallised basil
  • Raspberry Jam Filled
  • Pistachio and Hibiscus Ring
  • Almond Old Fashioned
  • Peanut Butter & Jelly
  • Chocolate and Hazelnut filled with cinnamon sugar
  • Orange and Vanilla Ring
  • Maple Candied Bacon and Puffed Pork Crackling
  • Black Forest Gateau
  • Vanilla Creme Brûlée

Tantrum Doughnuts Glasgow
What I bought
  • Morello Cherry Slushie - This was made out of ice and cherries and it had 4 large soft morello cherries in it, it also had a bit of mint on it as a garnish. This was very refreshing compared to other slushies I have tried before because usually they are just artificial. This one tasted lovely and 100% like cherry, the mint complimented this very well.
  • Peanut Butter & Jelly Doughnut - This was filled with raspberry jam and topped off with swirled peanut butter and chopped peanuts. I loved the taste of this but it was a little rich for me on myself so I shared this with my partner. My partner loved this doughnut the most because one of his favourite sandwiches is peanut butter and jelly.
  • Chocolate and Hazelnut filled cinnamon sugar Doughnut - This doughnut was covered in cinnamon sugar and the centre was filled with delicious hazelnut chocolate. This honestly gave nutella a run for its money, it was simply heavenly as the cinnamon and chocolate went together perfectly.
  • Blueberry Cheesecake Crumble (not available anymore :( ) - This was topped with a lovely soft crumble and inside was a blueberry filling which was just gorgeous. This was one of my favourites and I hope they bring it back one day because it was lovely.
  • Pistachio and Hibiscus Ring - This one was my absolute favourite! I would never of thought of the combination like this would be nice but it was way better then nice it was just so yummy! The combination of the sweet hibiscus and the nutty pistachio was one of my favourite doughnut combinations ever.

Tantrum Doughnut

Things I loved
  • The selection of doughnuts on offer and not just that also the combinations of flavours they have are just yummy.
  • Mostly vegetarian - the only things not vegetarian are the marshmallows, the maple candied bacon and pork crackling doughnut.
  • They are made fresh everyday by hand, not machines
  • Dog friendly :)
