The Vegan Kind - Beauty Box Review

the vegan kind beauty box
Hi beauties :)
I seen a few weeks back that the vegan kind had a one off beauty box. I am always looking for vegan options, as you all might know its not the easiest task but this is a great idea for people to find new products that are vegan and cruelty free, try them.
Whats in the box?

Inika Black Caviar eyeliner(RRP £13.50)
I absolutely adore eyeliners so I was very happy to receive this in the beauty box , Inika,  is a certified organic and it is handcrafted with natural products and minerals, for me this adds to the naturalness of the product.
It has a creamy feel and this can be used to add textures or for a smokey eye effect. Will be putting this to the test soon to see if it works.

White Rabbit Lime and Coconut Cleansing Water (RRP £4)
We all love taking care of our skin and I am no different, having a variety of cleaners and skincare products i like to keep my skin fresh and cleansed. White Rabbit cleansing water is enriched with orange blossom water, coconut oil and spring water the combination of which smells so beautiful. This is a perfect addition to your skincare regime for removing  make up and cleansing your skin.

Simply Soaps Orange Cocoa Bath Melt (RRP £4.50)
I must admit when I seen this I thought the lovely people at the vegan kind added a chocolate bar ha ha! it looks like chocolate and smells like heaven with the scent of oranges and cocoa butter. This bath melt has natural oils perfect for a soothing bath that is well deserved after a long day. I love this and simply can't wait to use it.

Furless 'Must have' Stippling brush (RRP £8.50)
I noticed this brand a few weeks back on my twitter as their brushes looked stunning and I just had to follow them.  I am ecstatic to try this brand and look forward to trying more. Furless is an Australian company which sell completely vegan and cruelty - free brushes. Stippling brushes can be used to apply all kinds of different make ups such as mousses, creams and foundations etc.

Beautiful Movements Cosmetics Beauty Eyeshadows X2 1g Samples (RRP £3.50)
I got 'Platinum Tiara' which is a silver colour and 'Dusty Road' which is a sandy kind of colour. I like the samples of these as they are perfect to carry in your bag for touch ups and you can re-use the pots once the eye-shadow has finished. 'Beautiful movements' are a new make up brand which are now available in Holland and Barrats around the country so keep an eye out. :)

The Vegan Kind Beauty box is still available on their website and it is £15 plus £2.95 for P&P. Its a bargain in my personal opinion as its worth so much more and you can try new brands, How great is that?

Do you buy and beauty boxes?

Faux Almond Nail Effect tutorial

faux almond nails
faux almond nail effect
Hi Honey Bee's
I love nail polishes and have always wanted to try almond nails out buy my partner doesn't really like the idea of them because he thinks they might be sharp and poke him haha. So to combat this I had the bright idea the other day why not try drawing the effect myself with Models own nail polish - Red alert and their nail art pen in black.

This is a very simple faux almond nail design for anyone to do and looks quite fun when you are finished so I made a step by step guide.
  1. Pick the nail colour you want :)
  2. Apply a base coat to your nails
  3. Once they have dried apply your desired colour to your nail, for a more vibrant and opaque look use 2 to 3 coats, I personally used 2.
  4. Get your nail art pen and with the brush curve around to the very tip of your nail and do the same on the opposite side till they meet at the top
  5. On the sides fill them in to make the shadow effect.
  6. For long lasting results use a top coat to make the nail design last long, I personally love Barry M top coat.

Hope you like this look :)
Tell me your thoughts below in the comments! :)

My Families Eid Celebrations

Hi Honey Bee's
As you guys might know Ramadan has now finished and yesterday was Eid, Its unbelievable how fast the month flew past even though me and my partner were fasting, if you want to know more on Ramadan check my post dedicated to it Here. Eid Mubarak to you lovely people and I hope you all had a beautiful day. Today I am sharing my Eid with you lovelies.

Morning My son woke everyone up this morning by deciding to be a wrestler from WWE at 6 am and the girls woke up soon after. When we all got up me and my husband had a cuddle symbolizing the end of an amazing month  followed by a breakfast of an odd number of dates. We picked out the nicest clothes to wear and had fun picking my two daughters outfits today as they all match and apart from that I managed to get a picture before one of them moved. My son and partner went to our local mosque at 9 ish in the morning to get there in time for Eid prayer at 10. The mosque is quite small and there is no room for sisters to go on Fridays or during Eid unfortunately. Fortunately, they are looking to purchase a bigger building and my husband is persuading them towards that. My husband soon came back at and I was told it was very busy and everyone was in a celebratory mood by hugging and wishing each other well .

Afternoon.  Today was also my dad, Beefys 68th Birthday. I thought it would be a brilliant idea to go over to my mums and beefys home to give him his card and present. While their we had our lunch with my family which was hummus sandwiches with salad which went down a hit. I happened to have the idea that hummus in a sandwich would be nice and thankfully I was correct, with lettuce of course :) My mum has a beautiful dog called Ben and he is such a big softy,  he loves our company and he is like an uncle to us.  He always sits near us when we visit which I find so affectionate. My girls watched Peppa pig while sitting side by side with my mum while my son fell asleep on the couch. I love spending time at my mums and we go at least twice a week. When we came home I made a pilau from scratch for the first time and thankfully, it went down well with my husband and kids.

Night  After a long day at being at  my mums house the kids decided they would got to bed 30 minutes earlier than normal as they usually go at 7 am. Me and my partner had a nice and quite time with tea and cake; enjoying each others company, reflecting on life and praying for the people of Palestine.
Hope everyone had a lovely day!

This weeks Beauty Favorites #3

vegan make up favorites
Hi Honey Bee's
Its been a beautiful week again with this tremendous weather even though I wouldn't mind if it was a degree or two cooler to get a breeze but best not think too much about that as the rain will come back again, ha ha. Another exciting thought is that Its my birthday in 2 weeks, I am super excited !! Anyways enough about that, on with this weeks beauty favorites.

I got the Beauty Blender in my June Birchbox and it had been just sitting on my dressing table for a while until I decided to give it a go just to see if it would work as well as my other foundation brushes. I used it for the first time the other day and I was pleasantly surprised how well it blends the foundation onto the skin with no effort whatsoever to get that even complexion. Speaking of make up brushes how could I forget the amazing Real techniques eyebrow brush from their eye-shadow brush collection, this brush takes all the hard work out of shaping and shading the brows and the best part is that you won't get too much on your brush so you won't get those sharpie moments. Now here is my next favorite this week that came from my Vegan Superdrug Haul, it is the B. Gel Eyeliner. I absolutely adore eyeliners and this one has to be added to my all time favorites as its easy to apply and lasts all day even in this humid weather.

I must admit I am a big fan of painting my nails every 5 minutes (maybe a bit drastic but I do paint them quite a lot anyways).  I love the vast amount stunning nail polishes on the market but this week I am loving the Barry M Aquarium collection in Mediterranean. This is like a shade you would find on shells while walking on a beach in Spain and reminds me of the times I went on holiday to Spain with my family, as always with Barry m the colour is beautiful and lasts a few days without chipping, if you apply a top coat. Last up we have the Bleach London - Split fix serum I have such frizzy dry hair from using too many hair products over time. After using this for a few months I can honestly say that this product works very well and did not anchor down my hair and is non greasy.
What is your beauty Favorites this week?

The Vegan Kind #TVK9 July 2014

july vegan kind box
Hi Honey Bee's
This is probaly my sixth the vegan kind box I have had now and It still is one of my favorite times of the month. This month promised to be one of the best so that added to the excitement of getting the box this month. I have tried a few monthly subscription boxes but this remains a firm favorite of mine as all the products are vegan and are cruelty free with a variety of things from food to beauty items. Every month 10p from the sale from every box goes to charity and the charity is chosen on facebook. The charity this month was Blind dog rescue. Now lets see what I got this time.

Coconut Organics CocoBacon (RRP £2.35).
CocoBacon is a slightly smoked and slightly sweet coconut pieces, But for me I did not like the mix I love coconut with sweet things but the fact this was mixed with the smoked flavour did not work for me and I could not eat any more but saying that my children enjoyed them and they shared the packet in no time it was finished and they really enjoyed them, so I think this product is like marmite you will either love it or hate it.

Vego Chocolate Bar 150g (RRP £3.50).
Now this was absolutely massive!!  This is Italian finest chocolate packed with hazelnuts and divine hazelnut paste. This was polished off faster then it should of been, the chcolate was smooth and the nuts were not hard at all to bite through making it a dream in a bar. I can't wait to get another in the future.

Vita Coco Coconut Water 500ml (RRP £2.50).
I  was happy to get this as I just ran out of coconut water, Coconut water is very refreshing and tastes amazing and its all natural, can't get better then that! It is beautiful on its own or can be added with mixed fruity to make ice lollies in the freezer.

Frank Bar - Strawberry and Chocolate Flavour (RRP £1).
Frank bars are 100% that are packed with wholegrain oats, dates and dried plums all topped off with a coconut milk chocolate. I personally found this really nice and really quite filling which is great, I shared this with my husband and he just loved it too.

Heavenly Organics ‘Just Add Water’ Shampoo 30g (RRP £2.40).
This is the first time I have seen a powder shampoo, So I am looking forward and dreading using this at the time, but I do love the idea of it.

Squeeze Juice Café Wheatgrass Juice 30ml (RRP £2).
I have seen these so many times in health shops and juice bars and I have always been tempted to try one but I was always put off some way or another, so I am happy to have just received this just so I know what it is like, I am going to add this to a green smoothie.

So again very impressed again for this months Vegan kind, you cannot go wrong with the variety they have to offer and the grantee that everything is vegan and cruelty free is just a priceless thing for me.
You can purchase Augusts subscription box by going to the Vegan Kind website, The box is £10 plus £2.95 P&P.
What do you think of this months box?

Illamasqua Lipstick Immodest

Illamasqua immodest
Illamasqua packaging
Illamasqua immodest swatch

Hi Honey Bee's
Today I am reviewing my all time make up brand Illamasqua!. I have been eyeing up their make up for ages and did treat myself recently to one of their lipsticks seeing as the brand is cruelty free. Making the choice was not an easy one because they is so many beautiful choices but eventually I chose Immodest(RRP|£18.50). Which is a vivid matte pink. I really love my matte lipsticks and thought the pink compliments this gorgeous weather we are having at the moment.
The lipstick was easy to apply but did feel a little dry unfortunately but the colour of the lipstick made up for that and it lasted so much longer then most lipsticks I have tried, so personally I think that is why you pay a premium price for this product because it actually works and does give you a matte effect lip colour. For me it lasted 5 hours before the need of re applying even with this warm weather etc which is just fabulous for a lipstick. A tip for me for longer lasting lip colour apply a lip scrub or moisturizer for longer lasting colour.
Overall I am happy with the lipstick and I would in future add more to my ever growing lipstick collection. Next time I am hoping to get a purple shade, daring I know :D.
Do you have any Illamasqua Make-up?

Superdrug Vegan Make up Haul.

Hi Honey Bee's
Yesterday I had a cheeky trip to town and ended up buying a few bits and bobs in my local Superdrug. I got most things from the B. range and Superdrug own brand and the best bit about this selection is that it is all cruelty free and vegan!
Usually when I go shopping I always look at the labels to check if it is cruelty free and quite a lot of the time most things are totally blank on the subject. So when I came across B. in which all of their products are vegan. Superdrug own brand which is cruelty free and most things are vegetarian or vegan I was automatically exited and I am happy to give these both brands a go.

First thing I noticed was the B. Eyeshadow seletion (RRP £6.99). No idea the name of the palette as it does not have the name of it it on the actual product but I do know it was from the summer range and it has very summery colours to go with this beautiful weather, so I just had to have it. It also has £1 off now so its worth it to give it a go. I even got more eyeshadows B. Vibrant eyeshadows(£6.99 Each). And they are as follows- Royal and Golden sands; these are very much like the Maybelline's Color tattoo and I am hoping to get vibrant looks and eyeliner styles with these. Seeing as I got the eye-shadows I thought why not try the B. Gel Eyeliner-Black (£6.99) This has a brush included in it and it reminds me of bourjois and macs options too so I will see how this one comes along.
As for lips I got the B. Rich Intense lipstick - Tangine(RRP £7.99). I got this one because the colour is just saying summer to me as its like a bright coral and orange combined. A bonus of this one was that it was half price and to go with the summer theme I got the B. Lipgloss - Champagne(RRP £6.99). I mainly got this to make my lipsticks shimmer but seeing as it is summer I might just use this on its own.
While getting all that I noticed the B. Pure Micellar Water(RRP £4.99). I have wanted to try a Micellar water for some time now as other bloggers have raved so much about them but I have had such a hard time finding a cruelty free options so I finally have had a chance to give this a whirl. While picking this I noticed another polish to add to my collection B. Nail polish in Woodland(RRP £2.49). I have no idea what this colour is ha ha, but I would say its a lovely mix of black and forest greens and I cannot wait to use this. Thankfully, after getting all these beauties I forgot to get something ... nail polish remover! so I just picked up some Superdrug Nail Polish Remover(RRP£1.39).
Be sure to keep an eye out in future to see how I get on with these products.
Have you tried B. before?

A Simple Ramadan Guide.

a simple guide to Ramadan
Calligraphy of Allah(swt) and Muhammad(saw)

Hi Honey bee's!
I hope everyone is having an amazing week and enjoying the sunshine. As a few of you guys know it is now Ramadan right now so today I thought I would give you guys a simple guide to Ramadan.

Ramadan is based on  Islams 5 Pillars which are
  • Shahadah - Declaring your faith sincerely
  • Salah - Praying the 5 obligatory prayers.
  • Zakat - Is where you pay 2.5% of your yearly wealth to charity
  • Sawm - Fasting during Ramadan
  • Hajj - Pilgrimage to mecca.

While Muslims fast we do not eat or drink from dawn till sunset, there is also other things we do not do during that time too which are smoking, anything naughty ha ha. Other behavior such as swearing and engaging in disagreements, back biting. Abstain from our desires.

As Muslim we strive to also increase reading the Quran and reading more salah(five daily prayers) as the spiritual rewards for this is multiplied during Ramadan.

Ramadan in the Quran:
Chapter 2, Revelation 185, of the Quran states:

The month of Ramadan is the month in which was revealed the Quran and i quote, "a guidance for mankind, and clear proofs of the guidance, and the criterion (of right and wrong). And whosoever of you is present, let him fast the month, and whosoever of you is sick or on a journey, a number of other days. Allah desires for you ease; He desires not hardship for you; and that you should complete the period, and that you should magnify Allah for having guided you, and that perhaps you may be thankful".
Important dates in Ramadan.
Hilal (the crescent) - This is when a new moon marks the beginning of a new month so this is typically where we find out when Ramadan starts.
Night of Power - The night of power is considered the most holy night of the year as this was the first night that Muhammad(pbuh) got the first revelation of the holy Quran. It is believed to be one of the odd days in the last 10 days of Ramadan.
Eid al-Fitr - This  marks the end of Ramadan and this is the end of fasting and is also a celebration for completing Ramadan. Kinda like Christmas :)

This week's Beauty Favorites #2

chocolate bar make up
Hi Honey Bee's
Hope everyone has had a beautiful weekend, I sure have its been so warm and beautiful that I had to choose these 5 beauty products to show to you guys.
First up is the amazing Too Faced-Chocolate Bar(RRP £45) This product is stunning you cannot go wrong, with the beautiful neutral colour's that all have candy names and the scent is even like chocolate. It also comes with a small guide on how to get different eye shadow looks and I really love this, combined with the Barry M - Kohl pencil in white (RRP £2.99). It really brightens up your eyes and adds definition. To add that little bit extra I add the Barry M- Liquid liner(£4.79). I use this for the simple cat eyeliner looks and its one of the easiest products to use.
On warmer days make up can be hard to stay on so I use the MUA - Loose translucent powder(RRP £2.30). This is really a life saver for me to keep my make up in place all day and keeps shiny skin at bay personally, I do think it keeps my make up on longer than what it would if I didn't wear this.
And last up, the most recent thing I bought was from my latest Birchbox is the Laqa & Co - Lip Lube (sample in birchbox). I got the most beautiful purple colour and its one of my favorite! this makes my lips a beautiful bold purple and not to mention a beautiful minty scent! DIVINE!
What do you love this week?

Beginners Guide to Cruelty Free Cosmetics

cruelty free cosmetics

Hi Honey Bees!
Most of us thought that our cosmetics we buy would automatically be cruelty free , seeing as the EU does not allow this practice , some companies do get there ingredients from countries on who actually test on animals and not all can guarantee  they don't test. It can even state on their websites they actually do test on animals even though they do try sugar coat it 9 times out of 10 , which can be very confusing to people buying there products.

Confusing things to look out for

  • I will give you two examples of how a companies can sugar coat there testing policy
-Rimmel tell you on the bottom of there homepage that they are against animals testing ... but when you click on the link it tells you they are thinking of other alternatives
another example is Bobbi Brown - they write this on their contact page
We do not conduct animal testing on our products or ingredients, nor ask others to test on our behalf, except when required by law.
Bobbi Brown is committed to the elimination of animal testing. We are equally committed to consumer health and safety, and bringing to market products that comply with applicable regulations in every country in which our products are sold.
So basically they still do but another sugar coat to try justify it . Its not just Rimmel and Bobbi brown who tell you this they is so many and you can find out more on the PETA website companies who still test.

  • One more thing to look out for that can be confusing is if it says ORGANIC or NATURAL , it doesn't mean that it has not been tested unfortunately .
  • Just because it's cruelty free does not mean it is vegan or vegetarian so that is another thing to keep in mind if you are buying.

What to look out for
One of the best ways to make sure its cruelty free is to look out for the leaping bunny on the back of a product such as the example below

  •  Look for the Leaping Bunny, the bunny can look like the picture below or it could possibly be of a different design, If unsure check out the cruelty free website.
  • Look for cruelty free options over on Go Cruelty Free, A very informative website that you gives you all the cruelty free companies and can also tell you if products are vegan.
  • Double Check before buying, i know it sounds time consuming but I promise it won't take you much longer and it will give you peace of mind - Here is an example to look out for Illamasqua's policy

Hopefully not to long in the future we won't have to worry about what we buy and they will be a 100% cruelty free.

July Birchbox

July birchbox
Hi Honey Bee's!
I have being getting the Birchbox for a few months and the excitement of receiving it has not gone! every month so far has not let me down apart from the 1 or 2 items that are maybe not my cup of tea. This months theme is Sun,Sea & Sand to celebrate the warmest season of the year and to remind us all of the beautiful sunny beaches and sea we have.

The first thing that caught my eye is the Models own nail polish (RRP £5) which happens to be one of my favorite brands, I got magenta divine which is a bright and glamorous sparkly pink. I don't usually buy glitter nail polishes as they can be a nightmare to take off but with this one I will give it a chance as it looks too fabulous not to use. Models own nail polishes are cruelty free and Vegan.

Next was the ever so bright Laqa & Co In Menatour (RRP £14) the first thing you notice with this is how bright it is! I love vibrant lipsticks so I was very happy to receive this. I  looked at this brand online and found out it is also cruelty free.

Then we have the Benefit - Porefessional (RRP £24.50)  I must admit this looks like an amazing product and have always wanted to give this a go but the only thing that has stopped me buying this is the fact the company still tests on animals, so until they stop I will not be purchasing from Benefit.

A new brand I seen next was the Balance Me - Wonder Eye Cream (RRP £20) I have needed an eye cream for a little bit so was more then happy to receive this and gave this a go. It is 99% Natural and is cruelty free.

And the next thing was the Whish - Three Wishes Lavender Butter (RRP £14.50) Now in my opinion you can never have too many body butters because there is so many beautiful scents you can buy  and of course the benefit for your skin is very important so it is best we look after it. Lavender is one of my favorite scents so I am looking forward to using this. Whish is also a cruelty free brand.

And last up which was a lifestyle extra is the Filofille - 4 sided nail buffer which is a great added bonus as I am always repainting and shaping my nails.

Overall I am very with the July Birchbox , It has a great variety for me and the contents of the box are a lovely surprise and it gives me a chance to try different brands that I wouldn't of thought of buying before.
Birchbox is £10 + £2.95 and can be bought on their website.

This week's beauty favorites.. #1

Hi Honey Bee's
Hope everyone has had an amazing weekend, I did the 10k race for life with my sister in 1 hour 57 minutes which we are super proud of seeing as  it was our first one and we didn't do much training. So I have a beautiful selection this week for you guys this is my favorites, I must admit it was not an easy choose but I managed after going through many boxes haha.

First up I have had the Soap & Glory Thick And Fast for a couple of months now , but this week I have used it so much and I really wish I used it more sooner, its got brilliant staying power and lasts all day without the need for another application , its complimented so well with the Eyeko Eyeliner  as it is so easy to apply and you can easily get it to the eyeliner style you want for me I love vintage style like Marilyn Monroe.

Illamasqua have always been one of my favorites but this week I absolutely loved the Atomic - Lipstick ! Its a bright fuchsia violet and believe me this lipstick has such amazing staying power and lasted me 5 hours without the need to reapply during that time , its perfect for any season .

I have being looking after my skin so much now and I adore the Lush's Charity pot as I love to keep my hands moisturized and soft even though its not winter no more my hands get a bit dry , and using charity pot has kept my hands so beautifully soft and makes my hands smell floral , Keeping on the skincare its superdrugs Vitamin E Body Butter this is so amazing, I just bought it a couple weeks ago and I use it every day now as its got a beautiful scent and keeps my skin soft and lasts which is very important and its packed full of vitamins GORGEOUS !!

Top 5 Beauty Products under £5

Hey Honey Bees!
I decided to show you all my favorites so after looking in my make up draw, I wondered while looking through my many boxes of cosmetics which 5 should I choose for my top 5 under £5. After a good 10 minutes looking through everything I finally came up with the top 5 products as shown above.

First up its the Charity Pot from Lush, I have a couple of trial pots that are a bargain price of £1 so they are  perfect for popping into my handbag or keeping them just handy. I personally love charity pot because all the money goes to charity and the fact this product smells divine and keeps my hands smooth in this hot weather too helps too.

Next up is the Barry M Gelly Nail Effects in Pink Punch I am a sucker for a beautiful nail polish and this one is no different. It has to be my favorite at the moment as its a vibrant pink and the best thing about it, is it lasts me ages and for £3.99 its worth giving it a go

Then we have the George - Felt liner I know it sounds quite unbelievable that this eyeliner is on the list as it is from a supermarket but trust me even though its £2.75 it works wonders it easy to apply and it lasts me all day which is perfect.

Now we have the Barry M - Lip Paint I must admit, I love lipsticks and if i had my own way I would have a storage box full of them, but back to the this one, I find these lipsticks don't necessarily last you all day but they do give a  beautiful vibrant colour and do not dry out your lips.

And last up we have is my hair's savior Baptiste Cherry dry shampoo I find this very helpful if I miss a day washing my hair, this makes my hair feel cleaning and have a light fruity scent to it too, very happy with this and worth the £2.99

What are your top 5 under £5?
