The Body Shop Black Musk Oil Review

the body shop black musk oil review
the body shop black musk oil
Hi Lovelies
As much as I love perfume I don't buy it very often because far to many brands aren't cruelty free and I only know a handful of companies who don't test on animals such as the Lush and the body shop. I got this perfume called black musk oil from my latest body shop haul in which I got as a Eid gift from my lovely partner.

The Body shop has many fragrances to choose from and I honestly had a hard time choosing because I had a smell of most of them and most of them smelled gorgeous but I eventually settled on this one. The perfume come in many scents in different variations such as perfume, oil and shower gels.

Black Musk Perfume Oil  20ml - RRP £16

First Impressions
I love the way this perfume was packaged in a black and bright pink box, it opened like an expensive perfume and added to excitement of opening it. The bottle design is very nice too and reminds of retro perfume bottles and with that being said it looks gorgeous displayed on my dressing table. The applicator was a little bit of confusing thing for me as I thought it would be like a serum and deliver droplets but its just a simple clear plastic stick.

My Thoughts
On trying the perfume in the shop which I loved I thought I would give the oil a whirl because I've never ever tried  a perfume oil before and thought it would be pretty much the same as the perfume spray version. Applying this took a little bit of time because it only gives a little bit of product each time but it wasn't enough to put on both wrists so I had to apply separately and then rub together, applying to the neck was similar too. The smell was very nice and has sweet notes of banbinella pear, pink pepper and bergamot with fierce black musk.

As much as I love the smell of this perfume I don't think it lasts very long and was no where near as strong as the perfume version of this scent. I think I would buy this scent again but no in the oil form because I like to have a long lasting perfume and something thats easy to apply.

I would give this 7/10, I love the smell and the perfume bottle but for me personally I like a more long lasting scent and sprays are so much better for me. I also thought it was a little bit expensive seeing as its £16 for an 20ml oil and £24 for 100ml of the spray version.

What are you're favourite products from the body shop?

  1. I have to hold my hands up and admit that I have not been in a body shop for a long time, I love some of their products so only go in when I run out. I do like musk type perfumes but have not tried this one. I would probably go for the spray version though x

  2. I have the Red Musk version and LOVE it. I find it lasts longer if I put it on the creases of my elbow and on the back of my neck. I need to smell this one!

That's a shame that it doesn't seem to last very long but it sounds like a lovely scent and I love the packaging too x

This sounds lovely, although such a shame that the scent didn't last long. One of my main bugbears with perfume. Love the packaging though!

That packaging is stunning! I have never tried a perfume oil before, so I might have to have a look next time I'm in store xx

The bottle is so lovely. It's a shame it didn't last long - I usually find that perfume oils last longer than sprays x

  8. What a pretty bottle, it would look great on a dresser. Its a shame it did not last as long as you expected.

What a shame the scent doesn't last for long :(

  10. I love the Body Shop. I haven't been in there for ages. I'll probably head there soon for some early Christmas shopping!

  11. Ooooo Black Musk?!? My mummy used to wear White Musk all the time and loved it! Might give this a try xx

I love the packaging for starters. I don't think I would get it if the smell wasn't lasting.

I love the body shop so I will have to check this out! X

  14. I was looking at this oil recently, but wasn't sure if I'd get it. Thanks for the good review ;)

  15. I adore musk scents so this sounds like it would be right up my street! Although, like you, I'd rather have the longer lasting version rather than the oil xxx

  16. I have honestly never properly tried any body shop products! I really like the sound of the Black musk spray perfume you mentioned in this. I'll have to stop by next time I'm in town and try it out!

It looks like a nice alternative to perfume but I have to say I already have my favourites and I quite like fragrance on my clothes too, but that would be nice for holidays or when you don't want too much perfume on I guess.
