The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquids | Review

the body shop matte lip liquid review
Hi Lovelies
I just LOVE shopping in The Body Shop but I must admit the things I usually buy when I am there are the skincare items or the perfume products and I have tended to finish buying before I even think about going to their beauty counter. For me personally I usually shop for makeup online or in boots so its something that has been missed more than a few times while shopping at the body shop or any other shop for that matter. I recently went to an event at The body Shop and it was all about their campaign on #junglebells and also a release of their new Christmas products. While at the event I had a chance to try a few of their products and I decided to start swatching some of the makeup products and I instantly fell in love!!! I just loved the eyeshadows, brushes and lipsticks and eventually after looking throughly at most of the makeup products I decided to try these lip liquids to give the body shop makeup a whirl.

The Body Shop offers a lot of different products including beauty, haircare and skincare products such as the body butters and hand creams. I will always love shopping here because it reminds me of shopping with my nana when I was about 12 years old.

First Impressions
With so many liquid lipsticks available everywhere you turn I must admit these looked brilliant and could be a contender on how nice the bottle looks compared to brands such as lime crime and Jeffree star (fingers crossed I try both of these brands soon. The bottles are the same shade as the liquid lipstick inside which I think is a very nice feature to have. They also have floral names which is kinda of sweet too.

The Applicators aren't the most impressive I've seen but still they have a nice curved shape to help get an even coat on every area of the lip.

My Thoughts
Sydney Amaryllis 014
This is a coral red shade and the good thing about this red is that it contains no carmine which is a great thing to see so with that being said its say it is vegetarian friendly. Applying this was easy enough and I need to put on 2 coats to make sure it was 100% opaque. It went on like velvet and had no scent at all which is a bonus because some products can have overpowering scents.

Even though its said to be long lasting I can't 100% agree with it, it lasts about 3-4 hours before needing another application especially if you have hot food or drinks. The good thing is though it comes off easily and doesn't look streaky.

Tahiti Hibiscus 016
This one is more like a berry shade and applied pretty much the same way that 'Sydney Amaryllis did.  It had the same texture and no smell too it too. I tried putting two coats on with this one too but this was a lot streakier than the above so it kinda put me off this one a little bit which is a shame because I love the shade and it goes very well for the autumn/winter months.

This had about the same lasting time as the above but started to look a bit streakier and looked like it was coming off unlike the above.

  1. I adore liquid lippies but I have to confess mine always seem to be streaky which can be a pain. Still gorgeous colours here.

  2. These are beautiful colours, I am a bit like you I always buy bath and body items but I need to take a look at the makeup range next time I am in!

  3. I want to try more Body Shop items because of it having more naturally made items and being cruelty free. The colours suit you, it's a shame you found it streaky! Haven't tried any of their makeup x

  4. I did my work experience in The Body Shop many years ago. I like the Sydney Amaryllis shade, I love corals x

  5. You know I am like you and only ever went into The Body shop for lotions and potions nothing more. These look good though shame they don't last all day

  6. I love liquid lipsticks, you could say I'm a little obsessed. Anastasia Beverley Hills ones are my favourite but they are tricky to get in the UK x

  7. They are both lovely shades and I think Tahiti Hibiscus is my favourite x

  8. I love a liquid lipstick! Shame they didn't last as long as you liked, but they're really lovely shades!

  9. I hate liquid lipstick I find they just don't stay on for me. I used to use body shop makeup but haven't looked at it gor ages might pop in Next time I'm out

  10. I've never tried any Body Shop makeup products before. The colours look fantastic though. I'll have to pop in store when I'm next in town and check them out.

  11. I love The Body Shop products, these lipsticks are lovely colours and there are lots of pros :)

Pretty colours! I love the Body Shop as they're cruelty free but it's a shame these are a bit streaky!

I definitely agree with the streaky comment they don't coat the lip all over very well and they aren't as matte as I'd have liked but colour are cute!

  15. So many people have been raving about the body shop's lip liquids! I have to check them out now! the colours look lovely on you xx

They look lovely but no too matte for my taste! I have a lot of favourite lipsticks... maybe at the moment could be heroine from Mac :)

  17. I didn't know you could buy make up in The Body Shop but in my defence I haven't stepped foot in one for about 20 years.
