Cafe Strange Brew, Glasgow

Since moving to Glasgow I have been to many cafes and restaurants! The amount of Vegan options available here is just amazing. Not only does Glasgow have vegan themed restaurants/cafes other restaurants and cafes also cater for vegans so its much easier to go out with friends.

Cafe Strange Brew opened its doors in Shawlands, the Southside of Glasgow in late 2015 and every time me and my partner go past it in the car its always busy, to the point in which there is a queue outift! We wanted to know what all the fuss was about and to see if they had any vegan options and if they were actually anything Strange......

I walked to the cafe which was simple to get to if you know Shawlands well, its literally next door to the coop. Parking is literately behind the shop or in the Shawlands arcade which has 2 hours free parking. Inside the cafe it has a good amount of tables to choose from and also a clipboard menu with all the food options on it.

The staff were honestly some of the best staff we have seen at any cafe, they were helpful and made you feel at home. While sitting down we were very impressed by the menu as it has many things that many cafes don't offer, it also has Vegan options, " Hallelujah" and not just salad, lots of yummy food and drinks. It took us ages too actually choose what we wanted because everything sounded lovely.

When I finally chose i went up to order our food and drinks which were; soya matcha latte, vegan strawberry and peppercorn cake and also leek and potato soup. It took about 10 minutes for all of our food and drinks to arrive and when it did we were so bloody impressed! EVERYTHING looks amazing and almost too good to eat and drink. The soya matcha tea was perfect and it had a tea cup design on it, 'how cool is that?'. The cake was spicy and omg it was just delicous with the matcha latte.

I very impressed with Cafe Strange Brew and we defiantly understand why sometimes they are queues! Its because they are so darn BRILL! We will be returning thats for sure and would recommend it to anyone visiting Glasgow, Southside.

The Slabb Fully Loaded Chocolate | Review

Hi Lovelies, I hope you are all well?
Blogging for me this month hasn't really had a set schedule because it has been Ramadan for a month and yesterday was Eid, so as you can imagine it was a pretty busy month for us but saying that I did manage to post way more than I was expecting so that was a bonus. I had way more PR companies contact me in the last couple of months which has made me super happy and it is showing me how much hard work is finally showing for me.

I was kindly sent 2 chocolate bars off The Slabb which makes fully loaded chocolate and also alcoholic chocolate bars, yes you read correctly alcohol chocolate. They make a variety of different flavours and have so many delicious toppings with high quality chocolate. They look just fabulous so without further delay lets get on about more about these chocolate bars.

the slabb fully loaded chocolate review
The Unicorn One
This looks amazing and I can't describe how excited I was when I received this in the post! They is a big thing about unicorns at the moment so it makes perfect sense to make a unicorn themed bar and it totally does remind me of unicorns with all of the pink decorations and all of the marshmallows and sparkles too. I haven't seen a chocolate bar like this and totally think this is the perfect present for anyone who loves chocolate or loves unicorns or both.

The taste is very rich as you would expect of chocolate bar with many tops but it did taste lovely with all the different types of flavours on this; first you could taste the white chocolate then the pink chocolate which had a nice sweet taste to it, followed by the different textures of the sprinkles and the marshmallows! This is truly a heavenly bar!!

The Baileys One
It has been many years since I last had a baileys and from what I remember of it was very nice! It is kinda milky with a creamy hot chocolate taste and it was pleasant for a treat. This bar is topped with the finest milk chocolate and has Irish cream liquor and marshmallows

I don't really drink alcohol that much but I am sure my brother would enjoy this as a treat. The designs of both of these are exquisite and can't deny they is great workmanship in each bar.

the slabb fully loaded chocolate
The Slabb has a rather big section of chocolate to choose from and they are 4 milk chocolate bars, 4 white chocolate and 3 dark chocolate ones to choose from. They don't sell them on their website as yet but they do have Kickstarter page in which you can donate them money to fund their business and they in return can give you chocolate at certain money pledges given, the reason they need the Kickstarter is for them to boost their business by buying certain item which can be found on the link. I wish The Slabb the very best for the future

Vegan Protein Flapjacks | Recipe

vegan protein flapjacks
Hi Lovelies
With the New Year here a lot of us are looking for healthier option foods, I know I sure am. I have had way to many treats over the holiday period and I am looking to get myself fitter and stronger this year and of course the biggest thing I want is to control my PCOS. Snacks can be my biggest problem area because I always seem to grab the ones like chocolate and cakes rather then the healthier options so I decided to make some healthy flapjacks to curb my bad snacking habits.

I thought this would be a brilliant recipe for people taking part Veganuary at the moment so I've made a vegan version of one of my all time favourite snacks and its flapjacks. With some research online I found  you can make healthier versions of them so I decided to give it a whirl and thankfully I did because it turned out quite well if I don't say so myself.

vegan protein flapjacks recipe
What you need

  • Baking tray
  • Grease proof paper
  • Mixing bowl

Ingredients
  • 200g Whole Oats
  • 100g softened dairy free butter
  • 2 ripe banana
  • small handful of raisins or mixed dried fruit
  • 2 teaspoons of agave nectar
  • 10g of Pulsin Pea Protein
vegan protein flapjacks recipe
Method
  1. Preheat oven to gas mark 4
  2. In large bowl put oats, raisins and pulsin pea powder
  3. Mash ripe bananas in a separate bowl then add the agave nectar and the softened butter until they are combined
  4. Put ingredients from the smaller bowl into the large bowl and mix together with hands until thick and its like cookie dough, if its too dry add a little bit of almond milk.
  5. Put the mixture onto grease proof paper on the oven tray. Flatten the mixture to get it into an oblong shape and then add to the oven.
  6. Let it cook in the over for about 20-30 minutes (mine too 25 minutes)
  7. Once cooked put on the side and once cooled cut into 10-12 squares.

I hope you enjoy this recipe.
What should I make next time?

PandaVita Baobab Powder | Review

pandavita baobab powder review
Hi Lovelies
For me personally this year I have struggled on eating properly and to be honest my body felt so blooming rubbish because of PCOS. I've been making small changes here and there to help me loose weight and not just that but to be healthier and stronger too. At the moment I mostly only eat wholewheat pasta/bread and also tried to include more fruits and vegatables.

I was kindly sent this baobab powder a month ago to try and to be honest with you all I have never tried a product like this before. Baobab is a superfood fruit that is grown in upper east Ghana. The fruit contains six times more Vitamin C than oranges and more potassium than bananas. This fruit also has twice amount of calcium than milk and also has fibre, so I can see why its got its superfood label from!

Uses
Honestly this Baobab powder is so darn versatile! It can be drank with water, made into a smoothie or even put into a healthy recipes such as a flapjack or protein balls. I am looking forward to making recipes with this in the future so keep a look out for that in future.

About the Baobob Powder
  • Vegan/Vegetarian
  • Organic
  • Gluten Free
  • Kosher
  • Halal

My thoughts on it
I loved this powder because you could barely taste it in a strawberry, banana and almond milk smoothie! I love the fact it had give me more benefits than just the two fruits from only one teaspoon on the baobab powder. I personally was not keen on the baobab powder on its own as its quite a strong taste but its a great way to get natural energy.

After trying it for a week I did feel my energy levels get better and I've been more fitness motivated as late. I look forward to keep having this in my fitness journey.

available online

Steak Cattle and Roll | Glasgow

steak cattle and roll glasgow review
Hi Lovelies
I must admit I just love a good *Veggie* Burger and usually it can be a right pain to actually find a restaurant that actually sells vegan/vegetarian options. Most veggie burgers I have tried before in the past didn't have dairy free cheese or nice sauces and as you can all kinda guess it makes a burger pretty darn dry if you don't have those things. I went out my way to actually find a restaurant that sold a decent variety of vegan/vegetarian burgers and thats where I found Steak Cattle and Roll.

Steak Cattle and Roll is very near to Glasgow central on Sauchiehall Street. It offers a variety of different food from burgers, salads and delicious dairy free milkshakes. Its not 100% vegan/vegetarian but it offers a lot of different vegan options on the menu, I for one for spoiled for choice on what to actually order because everything looks so darn yummy.

The Restaurant
It really reminds me of a 50s style diner with a modern twist. They are lots of seats too choose from including booths, classic chairs and a bar area, so lots too chose from if visiting by yourself, going with your friend/partner or group.  The decor is pleasant and the music isn't too loud either so its a great backing sound for when your'e eating and talking with company.

The restaurant can be reached fairly easily its on a main road so it be reached by car, walking or getting the bus. Its on the main road of sauichiehall street lots to other restaurants/bars and nightclubs.

 The Food
You really are spoiled for choice here as the restaurant has lots of hearty comfort food to choose from the food isn't going to win you in points for being the healthiest food in the world but it is great food to have as a treat or for when going out.

The menu has everything marked out simply so you know what you  are buying and its suitable for vegan or vegetarians. Its also marked clearly with the price. They have two menus; one for food and the other is for desserts and drinks.

Food choices *veggie options*
  • Burgers
  • Wraps
  • Salad
  • Fries & Sides
  • Nachos
Drinks & Desserts
  • Soda
  • Alcohol including wine
  • Hot drinks
  • Shakes including alcohol versions
  • Selection of cakes including a vegan option

steak cattle and roll Glasgow
What I ordered
The Classic Vegan Burger
This burger has a vegan burger topped with vegan mozzarella, served with salsa, rocket and red slaw with pan fried onion and bun.

The burger itself tasted divine, each bite was heavenly but as much as I loved eating this burger I could not pick it up to eat, I had to cut it into quarters so I could eat it. Even after all that it made a little bit of a mess so I would recommend getting a napkin or two. The burger is very filling and I ended up taking the rest of it home and having it later on in the evening, they put the rest of the burger in a  box neatly which is great if you can't finish it all.

Even though I loved the salad in this burger I think it was a touch OTT but you know its each to their own really. I loved this burger and the combination of the slaw, salsa and vegan mozzarella made this burger absolutely divine with its sweet/savoury elements.

Seasoned chips
HEAVEN IN A BASKET; no seriously if you love chips then you will love these chips. They are chips with skin left on so they have a bit of crunch and lots of flavour.

They are so many chips in the basket they can be shared which is great if you are going out with friends/family.

Things I loved

  • Very friendly staff; We were welcomed very quickly when we got to the restaurant and we got to choose out of the chair which we would like and once we were seated we got menus and a decent amount of time to choose drinks and order food.
  • Comfortable seating; Honestly you will be surprised how many restaurants have uncofertable seating. This restaurant has very comfy seating especially the booth seating.
  • Lots of vegan/vegetarian options; Usually going to a restaurant only has a few options but this place has so many options including food, desserts and drinks

Caketoppers Photo Cupcakes | Review

Hi Lovelies
When it comes to anything sweet I am defiantly a fan because I just love all things cake, chocolate/sweets and desserts. I usually like to bake every now and again but I also like to buy cakes from other places too from time to time because I like to try new things out. I was very lucky to be contacted by the lovely people at Caketoppers to review these adorable cupcakes. The picture on the cupcakes is my mums gorgeous Airedale Terrier Ben.

Caketoppers are an online cake company that make a variety of different cakes and cupcakes too. The cupcakes above are photo cupcakes and to get them like that I sent the picture to them in an email and they put it on the cupcakes and I got them within 1 days! So a very fast service. The cupcakes come in classic and chocolate

  • Delivered quickly
  • Can order just one if you like or as many as you like ( they say 100 or more even)

My Thoughts
Honestly I have never tried a cupcake like it! It was defiantly different experience eating something that has a photo on it but once I got over the a fact it has actually an edible photo I was fine with it. The chocolate cupcake is in the gold wrapper and trust me it was blooming delicious with a thick but smooth layer of chocolate below the photo and underneath that was a soft chocolate sponge. It had to be the softest yummy cupcake I have ever tried, it was honestly heavenly! I was disappointed when it was finished haha.

The classic cupcake is in the silver cupcake case and it is a more traditional recipe cupcake which brought me back to the days when I used to bake with my nana. The cupcake has a lovely vanilla layer of icing followed by a fluffy vanilla sponge, this was equally as delicious as the chocolate cupcake.

I would totally recommend them to anyone especially if you are planning a party or something like that, since you can put any design on them you can be as creative as you want to be with these cupcakes. They also offer photos on cakes as well as the cupcakes and prices from them are £35.

Pure Chimp Matcha Green Tea Review

Pure Chimp Matcha green tea review
 Hi Lovelies
When it comes to green tea, I really have to be in the mood to drink it because I have a love/hate relationship with the taste of it even though I know they are many health benefits of drinking it. I have heard of Matcha Tea over the years and how its like having 10 cups of green in one go, so I have always wanted to see how it tastes and to see if it's actually a better taste than green tea.

Pure Chimp is a Matcha Tea shop and they sell lots of matcha tea products such as Tea, matcha whisk, gift sets and also skincare items too. All the Matcha is 100% natural and the brand itself is vegan society certified. An added bonus with shopping at pure chimp is they have loyalty points so you can save money in the long run.

Pure chimp also donate 5% of there profits to charity and the they also have free delivery on there products too!

How I Enjoy Matcha
There are many ways to enjoy matcha, including baking with it but I enjoyed mine as a warm milky soya matcha tea drink. Firstly I put half a teaspoon of matcha tea in my cup followed by half a cup hot water, I then mix in a teaspoon of honey and once thats melted in I fill the rest of the cup with soya milk and once again I mix it to make sure the matcha tea is dissolved.

It tastes amazing and I can honestly say it tastes a lot more delicate than green tea bags taste. Matcha tea is very similar to green tea but  specially grown/processed green tea, so instead of being in a tea bag form its in a fine powdered form instead, so you get the full benefit of the matcha when you will only be getting part from the green tea, tea bags.

Benefits of Matcha Tea
  • Skin friendly antioxidants ( 100 times more than green tea)
  • Affordable at only 20p per serving ( half a tea spoon a cup)
  • Low caffeine at 35mg per serving
  • Can be used in baking
  • Can be stored for up to 18 months

You can see what they have to offer here, they also have a sale on at the moment because its there 3rd birthday.

Tantrum Doughnuts | Glasgow

Tantrum Doughnuts review
Hi Lovelies
When it comes to doughnuts I am very much like  Homer Simpson! Ever since I can remember I have went to Tesco and bought the pink doughnuts with the sprinkles on them. Since then I have discovered more types of doughnuts than the usual ones I like such a krispy kreme which have many different flavours to choose from, my favourite at the moment is the nutella doughnut which is just delicous. I recently discovered another gem for  my doughnut book and its a doughnut shop in Glasgow called Tantrum Doughnuts.

I first spotted Tantrum doughnuts on trip advisor on the top 10 bakeries in Glasgow and the name of the place just drew me in. I honestly feel like the cookie monster when he sees cookies except its doughnuts with me. The shop was first opened in late 2015 and is like a small coffee shop with hot drinks, smoothies and lots of different types of doughnuts to choose from.

Tantrum Doughnuts review
Where
The coffee shop is placed on a side street on old Dumbarton road.
35 Dumbarton Road
Yorkhill
G3 8RD

The Shop
Its a very small coffee shop but it does have seating inside if you are looking to visit with a friend or someone ;). They are also dog friendly so its nice place to go for coffee and to bring your dog along after a walk.

I bought 4 doughnuts and a slush. The doughnuts are fresh and made in small batches and are hand crafted not made by machines, so once they run out for the day thats it.

The Food
They had an impressive choice of hot drinks, milkshakes, slushies and doughnuts. They are displayed so its a little bit easier to choose which ones you would like. They have the names next to them and the prices for eating in or taking away and of course the prices of the doughnuts. On the wall is the drinks menu and also the price list alongside.

Doughnut choices
  • Blueberry old fashioned, Lemon glaze with crystallised basil
  • Raspberry Jam Filled
  • Pistachio and Hibiscus Ring
  • Almond Old Fashioned
  • Peanut Butter & Jelly
  • Chocolate and Hazelnut filled with cinnamon sugar
  • Orange and Vanilla Ring
  • Maple Candied Bacon and Puffed Pork Crackling
  • Black Forest Gateau
  • Vanilla Creme Brûlée

Tantrum Doughnuts Glasgow
What I bought
  • Morello Cherry Slushie - This was made out of ice and cherries and it had 4 large soft morello cherries in it, it also had a bit of mint on it as a garnish. This was very refreshing compared to other slushies I have tried before because usually they are just artificial. This one tasted lovely and 100% like cherry, the mint complimented this very well.
  • Peanut Butter & Jelly Doughnut - This was filled with raspberry jam and topped off with swirled peanut butter and chopped peanuts. I loved the taste of this but it was a little rich for me on myself so I shared this with my partner. My partner loved this doughnut the most because one of his favourite sandwiches is peanut butter and jelly.
  • Chocolate and Hazelnut filled cinnamon sugar Doughnut - This doughnut was covered in cinnamon sugar and the centre was filled with delicious hazelnut chocolate. This honestly gave nutella a run for its money, it was simply heavenly as the cinnamon and chocolate went together perfectly.
  • Blueberry Cheesecake Crumble (not available anymore :( ) - This was topped with a lovely soft crumble and inside was a blueberry filling which was just gorgeous. This was one of my favourites and I hope they bring it back one day because it was lovely.
  • Pistachio and Hibiscus Ring - This one was my absolute favourite! I would never of thought of the combination like this would be nice but it was way better then nice it was just so yummy! The combination of the sweet hibiscus and the nutty pistachio was one of my favourite doughnut combinations ever.

Tantrum Doughnut

Things I loved
  • The selection of doughnuts on offer and not just that also the combinations of flavours they have are just yummy.
  • Mostly vegetarian - the only things not vegetarian are the marshmallows, the maple candied bacon and pork crackling doughnut.
  • They are made fresh everyday by hand, not machines
  • Dog friendly :)

Fitness Journal Week Seven

Hi Lovelies
I know its been a few weeks since I last posted but I am back on track with my weekly fitness journal  updates. I don't want to make excuses for myself but I haven't been feeling right the past couple of weeks because my hormones have been a little on the high side so Ive had a couple of trips to the doctors and blood tests which hasn't been pleasant to put into words. I still need to go again for another blood test, so fingers crossed Il have more answers then.

I haven't been giving my goals a 100% as I should of but I did still go to the gym as much as possible and go for long walks. I am still feeling motivated to get to my goals, the journey make take longer but I'm looking forward to the journey.
fitness journal week seven

Food Diary
In the mornings I have usually had porridge with soy milk or toast if I am in a rush, I know toast isn't always the healthiest option but I do tend to buy wholemeal bread plus I usually have a banana with it.

For lunch I usually make my own vegetable soup and at the moment my favourite potato and leek soup, its delicious and also warming which is a bonus in this cold and wet weather. For dinner I usually have lots of vegetables with either veggie sausages or a homemade curry.

Snacks have been a little on the junk food side, I think I've eaten way to many crisps and stuff but il try and reduce that for next week.

Fitness Diary
I am actually happy with the amount I have been walking the past few week, I can improve on it but you know I am on a journey not a race.  I haven't been to the gym as much as I would like but the times I have went I have been improving my cardio and planks ( I can do it longer than my partner now haha)

Favourite Motivation Songs
  • Antidote - Swedish House Mafia
  • We will rock you - Queen
  • Perfect Illusion - Lady Gaga

Goals for next week
  • Keep myself motivated
  • Go to the gym more
  • Eat better

Until next week

The Handmade Burger Co | Glasgow

Hi Lovelies
This is a very long overdue post but I've finally got round to posting about my experience going to The Handmade Burger Co. I have heard lots of positive things about this place so its  been on my list of restaurants I have wanted to visit. When me and my partner we look for two things one being a place that offers a decent variety of vegetarian food and a place my partner will like too and he's a not vegetarian so he likes a lot of choices and as we are both muslim it has to have options too.

The handmade burger co has many restaurants up and down the UK including the one I went too which was in Silverburn Glasgow. UK. They have a decent size menu including vegetarian and vegan options. They also have a kids menu which has 2 halal option and 1 vegan option.

The Restaurant
Me and my partner loved the design and the seating was comfortable with a decent amount of leg room too. The table was sturdy which is fab because Ive been to places before and the table keeps moving. The menus were very big and simple to read and I found what I wanted to order easily and so did my partner.

The service
We didn't wait long for a table, the waiter took us over to our chairs with a friendly smile on his face handing us our menus. When we were ready to order my partner went to the till to pay and order the food and drinks and they came within him sitting down which I think is brilliant

The Food
Me and my partner ordered the veg-mex burger because we both have a love of spicy food. We also ordered the sweet potato fries and rosemary salt seasoned chips. We waited for the food not longer then 15 minutes and as you can see by the pictures the food is displayed very nicely

As much as I want to say its the best burger I have had I can't, it was a nice burger but for the price it wasn't what I expected and it fell to bits far to easily and it could of done with a spicy burger sauce in it as it was a little bit too dry. The fries and the chips tasted lovely and overall we both enjoyed our meals and most likely would visit here again but would try something different next time.

Things I love

  • Lots of different burgers to choose from
  • Many vegan, vegetarian options including desserts
  • Friendly staff
  • Nice atmosphere
  • Kids menu

My Fitness Journal Week Two

Hi Lovelies
I am now on week two on my fitness journal and I have learnt so many things this week and I have so many plans for the upcoming week and from then on too. I have had a busy week and I must say now that I had way to many treats last week, I went out for food and maybe ate a little bit to much and some days Ive had way to many biscuits with my tea so I have wrote a meal plan for the upcoming week and hopefully fingers crossed it will help me out a bit to stay motivated.

I know I said I was hiding the scales last week but I think its important to weigh myself now and then again when I am 100% happy with my goals, I won't be going on them weekly as such just more like an every now and after kinda thing.

fitness journal week two
Food Diary
I have started to use sweet potatoes and including more fruit and veg in my diet and reduced the amount of carbs I have been eating. I also get the graze box for treats instead of buying chocolate and other snacks like that.

I love baking so I made some dairy free vegan chocolate orange cupcakes for my partners brothers birthday. I didn't have a full one but I shared one with my lovely partner.

Fitness Diary
I went to the gym four times this week which I am super proud of! I am aiming to go around five times a week soon. I am lucky as my partner works afternoons and evenings so we like to go to the gym in the morning once we have taken the kids to school. My partner also is training to be a personal trainer so he's motivating me a lot in the gym to push myself and make myself sweat and wow its worked lots, I think its made such a difference.

I loved doing squats this week and it was a lot easier to carry this week and I even managed to put a little bit of weight on the 20 kg bar which I am super proud of.

My Fitness Journal Week One

Hi Lovelies
When it comes to health and fitness I would say I am pretty happy at how well I am doing so far this year and I will continue as always with my goals for the rest of 2016 and beyond! I am a curvy size 16 and I feel very fit and healthy and always try and do as much exercise as possible that fits well with my routine of being a mum and also writing on my blog.

I started 2016 with big weight loss goals but seeing as times gone on my goals have changed and I have realised numbers on the scale don't matter and being fit in other ways is more important. I have hidden my scales and now just have a fitness journal instead. I have a food diary to make sure I am getting what I need in my diet. I'm not going to lie I do have a the odd bit of junk food every now and again like some cake when I visit my mum or something.

Food diary
When it comes to food I have swapped a few foods to healthier alternatives such as rice, pasta and bread to the wholemeal versions as they have more fibre which  helps with foods digestion.

I have also included more fruit and veg in my diet to help me keep fuller for longer and of course they have lots of health benefits too. My favourite fruits at the moment have to be spotty bananas and apples! they are so tasty :)

Fitness Diary
Since the start of spring I have been jogging at least one a week (very soon I will be doing this 2-3 times a week because I enjoy it so much) Since I started jogging to now I have improved so much and can now jog for up to 20 minutes with some intervals of running too. Another thing I like to do when I jog is go for long walks, its great for cooling down and also for getting me 10,000 steps goals for the day .

Since the start of September I have joined the Gym and I am so glad I did because I have started weight training, at the moment my favourite thing to do is squats! they are hard to do at first but once you get your form right its fun, hopefully soon I will be able to squat with weights and when I do I am sure they will be photos on my blog about it.

Goal of being a wrestler
Ever since I was a child I have loved wrestling and have always admired the wrestlers because its hard work with so many shows a week and lots of travelling. Some of  my favourites of all time have to be The Rock, Roman Reigns and Eddie Guerrero.  But one that stuck out  the most for me had to be Chyna, I just loved the way she wrestled and it didn't matter if her opponents were male or female she was brilliant and was very professional. She has inspired me in a way to actually try and do my dream of being a wrestler myself.

I have always wanted to train to be a wrestler and I know I might not be the best in the world but I just want to try it because I know its something I would enjoy. I just need the confidence to do it and fingers crossed I will be training very soon.

Dairy Free Strawberry Smoothie /// Recipe

Dairy free smoothie recipe
Hi Lovelies
If you have followed my journey on Instagram and blog so far you will see that I am on a weight loss journey and I am changing my diet for the better but with that being said I am still eating fulfilling foods at the same time. The way I am doing that is swapping crisps and chocolate for fruits, smoothies and nuts. Another thing is keeping an eye on portion control.

Now this brings me onto this smoothie recipe, I have made this recipe a few times and I thought it was delicious so I thought I would share it with you all.

Alrpo Go On Yogurts

alpro go on yogurts
Hi Lovelies
Eating healthier can be an uphill struggle with me sometimes but for some reason I find it relatively easier with Alpro because they have so many products available that are on healthier side such as the plant based milks and yogurts. These yogurts are new from Alpro and I only recently seen them while shopping in Tesco two weeks back.

In supermarkets finding plant based/ dairy free / vegan yogurts can be a bit on the boring side as the selection is relatively small compared to the dairy selection! I am so glad that I can now find an alternative in the shops now to add to my weekly shopping list.

Alpro go on yogurts contain calcium just like strained dairy yogurts and  also contain vitamin B12 and D. They are also high in protein and contain 5g of protein to 100g of yogurt which is quite impressive for a plant based yogurt! Like all the products I know from Alrpo they are 100% Vegan.

Flavours

Mango
This yogurt has to be my most favourite yogurt I have ever tasted as it tastes just delicious! the yogurt is very thick and has a generous amount of fruit with bits of mango in it on the bottom. I really hope they do a multipack of this one as its just so nice!

Passion Fruit
Just have to start with saying wow about this yogurt as with the mango it had a thick tasty yogurt and the fruit layer that tasted heavenly with tropical passion fruit!

Blackcurrant
Unfortunately even though I loved the texture and flavour of this yogurt I found the fruit layer a bit on the gritty side so I didn't enjoy It very much, which is a shame.

Even though I wasn't keen on the blackcurrant yogurt I am very happy I bought these yogurts and would recommend them. I have already bought 4 more of the mango flavour as honestly they are too good and its hard to believe they are healthy haha! I have my fingers crossed that Alpro will make a strawberry and a pineapple version of this yogurt.

Weight Loss Diary - The beginning

Hi Lovelies
one of my new years resolutions this year was to get fitter and hopefully lose some weight, well that motivation to do that has finally kicked in for me now and I am so ready to start my fitness journey and hopefully get down to a UK size 10. At the moment in time I am over 13 stone and I am a size 16 and I know this sounds unbelievable but I am looking forward to the journey.

I have been planning it out for over a week now and have been eating healthier and excising  more but having a plan like meal plans and exercise ideas makes it some much easier in the long term for me and thats one of the main reasons I am writing this blog post, so it keeps me motivated and keeps me on track for my goals.

Start weight - 13 stone    Goal Weight 9 stone
Things I am changing

  • Sugar - I know it sounds undoable but i have decided against putting sugar in my tea and coffee and using a more natural sweetener instead.  I will be having natural sugars such as fruits and sugar found in yogurt.
  • Less Carbs - I think I eat too much bread and chips so I will be reducing them, not completely but reducing them a lot, like I may just have chips on a Friday and have boiled potatoes or rice on the other days.
  • Swap to wholemeal - This goes for bread and pasta as they are better for you as they contain fibre.
  • Drink more water - I know this is said everywhere and I need to take note on this one and remember to have enough water throughout the day.
  • Have treats every now and again - I need to plan them out instead of just having them randomly.

Apps I will be using
  • My Fitness App - This app is a must, I just love how much this app has to offer, you put in all your meals and it counts the calories and also works how much calories lost during exercise. Another bonus about it is you can connect other fitness things up to it like fitbit and polar products. The other things I love about this app is that it shows you progress over time and has a forum.
My Motivation

  • Don't give in to every craving - I have to say at the moment that no food is out but I know that needs to change. I won't be giving up my favourites but instead having them on cheat days like a Sunday.
  • It won't happen over night - I must admit before I give up before to easily as I thought I wasn't loosing weight but I now realise it takes time and to stick it out and keep at it.

Goals for the week

  • Plan all my meals
  • Drink enough water
  • Walk at least 10,000 steps a day

Hope you all loved this post and if you did I would appreciate if you followed me on my social media below. I hope you enjoyed reading about the start of my weight loss journey, keep an eye out for weekly updates. I will be posting more fitness inspired posts on my blog too, such as food, exercise and stuff like that.
