First Impressions | Healthista Products

I was kindly emailed a couple of months ago by 'Healthista' but unfortunately for me it was held in London and I can't really travel that far especially with short notice but the kind people at 'Healthista' decided to send me some of their products to try out to see what I thought of them and me being on a fitness journey I just jumped on the opportunity.

I will give you all a little insight on what Healthista is all about and basically a feel good website that has info on various subjects including; health, happiness, fitness, sex + love and also looks. On the website they also have a shop which has lots off different health food including their own which is protein, supplements and health foods. I was kindly sent the following products but I have only tried two of them because I like to have a vegan/dairy free diet, I gave the other one to my partner. The products include; lean vegan diet chocolate and night food.
healthista product review
Seeing as this is a first impressions post I will give you a brief destruction of the products and my thoughts on each of the products so far. To see what I think of them fully then the blog post for that will be in a couple of weeks because I want to use all the products up to give them my final verdict.

healthista lean vegan protein
Healthista Lean Vegan Chocolate - £24.99
This is a nutritionally balanced vegan food supplement which can help assist weight-loss. It is made from pea, rice, hemp and sunflower powder. This can be taken as a shake or in food like porridge, smoothie or anything you like really.

I just love how this tastes very nice and how very different from other protein powders that I have tried in the past, it has a nice spicy element to it that kinda reminds me of a gingerbread man/cake. I am not a big fan of drinking protein shakes I prefer to put them on food and this works wonderfully well with soy milk and porridge! Its so warming and I defiantly recommend it.

healthista night food
Healthista Night Food - £18.95
This is an antioxidant blend with a calming blend of chamomile, lemon balm, cinnamon and ginger. All of these ingredients help support the nervous system, balance blood sugar and  also help promote relaxation.

This tastes very nice but I can't personally drink it just as it is as it has quite a strong taste for me. I think il try it with my own cereal bars soon.

I will be posting more and more fitness posts in the near future and also on my Instagram so follow me on their for updates.

Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation & Serum | Review

kat von d lock foundation review
I have been a big fan of Kat Von D for a fair few number of years now, even well before she had a makeup line back when she was on LA Ink. When her makeup line came out in America I was thrilled and was sooo tempted to try the makeup but they did not deliver to the UK at that time which was a little disappointing but I always held hope that it would eventually land in the UK and thankfully it did when Debenhams announced they were going to stock Kat Von D!

Kat Von D Beauty is Cruelty Free with plenty of vegan options, more info on Peta here 🐇

When they made a Kat Von D counter in Debenhams in Glasgow, I just couldn't wait to see the makeup counter! The counter itself was very easy to find as it is designed beautifully with a gothic twist with lots of mirrors and counters showing a variety of different makeup they have to offer from lipsticks to makeup brushes.
kat von d foundation and primer review
Beautiful. It is just perfectly designed and I think it compliments Kat Von D as its designed with tattoo design writing on the box and also on the bottles of the primer and the foundation too. The box is very thick so if you decided to keep the box "like myself" then it would last a long time if taken care off. The bottles also feature an airless chamber which prevents contamination and keeps the foundation fresh. I love how the bottles look like glass and the pumps are covered with mini covers which look like royal seals.  The seals on the bottles can be taken off simply and put back on again after each use.

The Hydrating Primer
The primer is milky white in colour and it comes out of the bottle with a pump action. The primer itself is very light as its water based meaning its very easy to apply onto the skin. It has a nice feel to it and it has a silky matte finish.

The Foundation
This was much thicker in texture than the primer but it came out the same was as the primer, it comes out with a pump action and even though it is thicker it still has a silky feel to it.
kat von d foundation and serum review uk
The Hydrating Primer
I used 2 pumps which gave me about a peas size amount each time and I applied it to my skin with my fingers and massaged into my skin like I do with my usual facial moisturisers. Once applied to the skin it took only a few minutes for it to dry ready for the foundation. The primer which is water based has high-tech polymers which minimise pores and give the skin a smoother finish for the foundation.

The Foundation
I am always a bit hesitant using my premium products as I don't like using them too much because of the price so I was hoping application with this foundation would be ok and thankfully I only needed 2 pumps of the foundation to give my face a full coverage finish. I applied the foundation with my trusty and most favourite makeup sponge ((Real Techniques miracle complexion sponge)) which help put this foundation on effortlessly. I love the way this foundation makes my skin look dewy with a subtle glow, wish I bought this foundation so much sooner!

The Hydrating Primer
This has a delicate scent which I can't put my finger on what it is is but it does smell lovely and is not over powering, its delicate and matches perfectly with the foundation.

The foundation
Thankfully this had no scent at all. I am not a fan on foundations with too much of a scent.
kat von d foundation light 44 cool review
Do they last though?
I can honestly say that the combination really impressed me so much! I went to wedding last month and the wedding was a whole day event and my makeup stayed in place.... even with me dancing and the weather being very hot. I took it off when I got home after the wedding and I can honestly say it looked pretty much the same as it did when I left earlier that day. I was kinda reluctant to take it off because my makeup was still slaying but you know skincare is very important so I had to take it off "boo".
Kat Von D Foundation and Primer swatches

  • Medium to heavy coverage : For me personally I like a heavier foundation and find this one the best one I have tried so far.
  • Easy to apply: Even though this is a heavier foundation it applied like cream and blended pretty quickly, which is fab!
  • Dewy, Matte finish: I just love the finish, it makes my complexion look smooth and a nice glow to it too.
  • Sublime packaging: I am one of those people who just love the packaging on products just as much as the products and these ones win hands down.
  • Long lasting: The combination of the primer and the foundation is just perfect, they defiantly compliment each other to help the foundation last all day.
  • Primer works well with foundation and on its own: Even on no makeup days this primer feels amazing on the skin, it smoothes my skin and feels lovely.

  • Can feel heavy: On a normal day it feels fine but on those warmer days it can feel a little heavy but nothing too much just something I thought I should mention.
  • Expensive: I know they aren't the most expensive on the market but for me I will be using them for special occasions and weekends haha.
Price and Where to Buy
Kat Von D - 'Lock-It" Hydrating Primer // £24
Kat Von D - 'Lock-It" Liquid Foundation 30ml // £27

Elegant Touch Nails | First Impressions

Hi Lovelies, I hope you are all well?
I am sure some of you all know that I recently went to two wedding parties on the weekend and omg they were amazing! I will go into details about them both on my blog in the next week or 2 but for now I will be telling you all about my nails that I wore for those 2 very special days of Bisma's and Atif's wedding. I don't usually wear fake nails because sometimes they can be a nightmare to take off and some can be so expensive.

I decided I wanted to do my nails myself for the events and I ended up choosing Elegant Touch French kiss nails which are a very on trend nail which and almond shape nail with a nude shade and metallic tip. I thought they would go perfectly with my outfits for the day and work with the henna I was getting too.
elegant touch nails french kiss
  1. Make sure nails are clean and have no polish on them, if you do remove with nail polish remover.
  2. Once you have done the above buff your nails as it makes it much easier to apply the nails. This set includes a nail buffer which is very handy.
  3. Choose correct size for each nail before applying, the box has 24 nails inside so they is a variety of different sizes.
  4. Once you have choose the correct sizes apply glue to nail then push the nail from the cuticle upwards to get an even finish and press down for a few moments.
  5. Repeat process for each nail until you have finished and voila they look perfect.

I would recommend giving yourself 20 minutes to do this and I wouldn't rush through it either just so you can get them as perfect as possible.

elegant touch french kiss nails

Removing them was a little upsetting because I didn't want to take them off but with that being said they were very easy to remove unlike conventional nails that you would get at a nail bar, they need to be taken off professional. These can be taken off in the comfort of your own home in very little time.

All you need to do is buff the nail and  remove with cotton wool and foil, one they are removed the residue is easily wiped off with a wipe or simply washing hands.
elegant touch nails review
My Thoughts
I loved these nails, they have an amazing shape and look amazing too. I applied these last Wednesday and it took me about 30 minutes from start to finish to put on these nails. When I first applied them I thought they were a little longer than what I would usually go for but I got used to them in no time at all and believe it or not they actually felt like my real nails rather than something stuck on. I wore these on the night I got my henna at my partners aunties house were lots of family and friends were and I got so many compliments from so many people and they were surprised when I told them all I did them myself and the price of them too.

During the Menhdi party and the reception they felt great too and didn't restrict any of my actives such as eating or drinking. On those days I got more compliments and on that note I have changed my mind completely on wearing fake nails, I am looking forward to trying more out in the future because of how simple to use these were.

I lost one nail during one party and I had no idea were it went but I didn't feel it come off, I just looked at my hand and it wasn't their. I wasn't disappointed because its pretty simple to reapply them again especially when they are so many nails in the packet.

Dr Paw Paw Original Balm | Review

Hi Lovelies, I hope everyone is well!
My blogging schedule is all over the place at the moment and I have to apologise for that but I have been so busy over the past few weeks; firstly we are preparing for Ramadan which is less than a week away and also preparing for a big family wedding which is in July, so yes a bit of hectic schedule  but here i am now and fingers crossed will be more often to share more blog posts.

Dr Paw Paw is a brand I have been wanting to try for a while now because so many people have been saying that this balm is brilliant and I wanted to see if that claim was true, so it was only a matter of time before I got this for myself to try and see if all the talk was true. The brand is British and is made from a variety of natural ingredients to make this multi purpose balm.
The balm has a gorgeous bright yellow packaging and comes in a travel friendly size of 25ml so its very handy to carry with you in your bag. It has very few ingredients in this which is quite nice to see because sometimes you see beauty products and the ingredients list is massive!
Key Ingredients
Aloe Barbadenis Leaf Juice
Aloe vera contains enzymes, antioxidant vitamins,  minerals and four fatty acids. The benefits it has for skin are extraordinary and is very good at retaining moisture to skin, lips and hair. Its just one of those things that have various benefits. I also love to use aloe vera as a toner because its very soothing on the skin.
Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil
We all know the many benefits of olive oil as food but its also something that is very good for our skin and hair too. It contains vitamin E which helps restore skins softness and has anti ageing benefits  as it doesn't clog the pores and helps get rid of the dead blood cells which can make skin more glowing and radiant.
Carica Papaya
We all know that papaya is a nutrient dense fruit with high vitamin C content but did we all know it has amazing benefits for the skin too? Well its very good at cleansing skin, exfoliating skin and is supposedly ok for sensitive skin ( best to do a skin patch test first though)

dr paw paw original balm review
This balm is mainly marketed as a lip balm but it also has so many other uses too  and I have tried a few of them to put them to the test to see how they all faired out.
If you have dry lips or want softer lips then this balm is perfect for them jobs. I like to use it before I put a lipstick on because it creates a smoother base for the lipstick to sit on and in turn making my lipstick last so much longer.
Skin irritations and sunburn
This balm is know for it's healing properties so its very good for helping with these. I have been out and forgot sun tan lotion and my neck was a little red and this was great for soothing my skin ( don't forget to wear sun protection everyone! Its very important!)
Hair/Brow Conditioning treatment
I am not sure on how well this will work because the tube is quite small but its great for keeping stray hairs in my hairstyles still and its also good at keeping my brows in shape all day long! it will save me a fortune in the long run because brow products seem to cost a fortune don't you think?
Nappy Cream
Because this product is so natural its ideal to use if you prefer natural products. Its handy size is perfect for carrying around in bags too.
dr paw paw orignal balm review
My Thoughts
The first thing I noticed when I opened this was how thick the cream was (pic above of balm) Once it was in my hands it melted a little bit and was so much easier to work with and a little bit went a long way too. It has no particular scent at all which kinda shocked me a little bit because of the ingredients I was thinking it might smell a little tropical but with that being said its great its fragrance free, that way it doesn't interfere with the perfumes and moisturisers I like to wear.

I have used this product for a fair number of uses because it is a multi use balm I really want to see how multi use this product could be.
Caesarean scar
I have 3 children and with each child I have a caesarean and my scar has gotten a little thicker each time and sometimes during the warmer months especially my scar can be quite itchy and when it does it gets annoying, so I decided to give this a try and its worked wonders for me keeping it soothed and also very moisturised too.
Callus from lifting weights
My boyfriend is a personal trainer and also a student wrestler so he lifts a lot of weights to help him keep him at the body goals he wants and also to keep him strong, the slight problem he has is the hard skin on his hands which is caused by the olympic bar. I have been putting this on his hands everyday since I bought this 2 weeks ago and its helped his skin quite drastically on his hands, not that its gone but that they are so much smoother which is a brilliant result in itself.

I this is a brilliant product and for me is now a skincare staple, its very affordable at £6.95. I have started to carry this round with me because it has many uses and you never know when you need something that works this well. Dr Paw Paw comes in original balm and tinted, they also have a bigger 200ml bottle and an all in 7 treatment styler.

Available in supedrug stores online and also on the Dr Paw Paw website. I have a link below for anyone interested in knowing more about the brand and the products

Ole Henriksen Blue/Blackberry Enzyme Mask | Review

Hi Lovelies
Face masks are defiantly a THING right now, I have never seen so many different brands and types of face masks in my life but 2017 seems to be a year of choice and variety when it comes to what face masks they are available. This year so far I have tried at least 5 different types of face masks and each one of them have been great, I can honestly see why they are such a popular thing.

Ole Henriksen is a very new brand to me but it has grown in popularity since it started out in the 70s. It was founded by Scandinavian skincare expert Ole Henriksen and the skincare products are made out of natural botanicals, powerful actives and essential fatty acids. The products are also cruelty free
ole henriksen mask review
The packaging is a very nice royal blue shade and the box is quite sturdy with clear information written on the box too. The container which holds the product is something I am not sure about because its made out of plastic and reminds me a lot of my grandads hair wax container. The masque itself is like a gel and is completely clear and has a very aromatic strong scent and I am unsure if I actually like the smell or not.

This mask contains a blend of blue/blackberry extract as they are very good at helping to help at cell renewal properties which helps the skins texture and it also has lavender which helps hydrate and nourish skin and as well as those amazing ingredients it also has vitamin b5 papaya enzyme which helps renew skin which makes this a perfect mask to hydrate and moisturise your face.
ole henriksen blue/blackberry enzyme mask review
I have tried this mask a few times now and so has my partner and his brother so I have a good idea of what we all think of this product so lets see how it went shall we?

We all put a thick layer of the gel onto our faces after cleansing our faces beforehand and we all agree the smell is quite strong but something we all got used too after a few minutes. To get a thick layer on our faces didn't take too long and even after it has been used by us all and also by me a few extra times they is still loads left in the container which for me helps it become more better value since it is an eye watering £36 for 100 ml of product.

Its recommend to leave it on for 20 minutes so we left it on for the stated time and once it came to the time to wash it off the texture of it was kinda like jelly that it almost set if you know what I mean. I washed my face in warm water and it didn't take too long for it to completely wash off my face which is obviously a good thing because sometimes some face masks can be an absolute pain to get off even with warm water and a towel.

My face defiantly felt more hydrated after using this mask and it felt very smooth too and it felt softer for the next 48 hours which is pretty impressive.
ole henriksen face mask review
My Thoughts
As much as I want to love this product I can't say I do unfortunately, it has so many factors on why I won't be repurchasing this. First up I think the packaging isn't up to standards for a product that is so expensive and secondly I personally don't like the smell at all it is a little bit too strong in my opinion and the texture isn't my cup of tea either. It did leave my skin feeling nice and soft after I washed it off they is no denying that but for me the price is a little much and I think the body shop expert face masks are better and they are £16 for the same amount of product, you can see my full review on the body shops Himalayan charcoal purifying mask here.

I would defiantly try other products from the range though because another product might work wonders for me and you know something everyone? You may love this face mask! This is only one persons opinion out of so many.

Ole Henriksen is available in Debenhams online and in-store

Noughty To The Rescue | Review

Hi Lovelies
With hair products I like to get as natural as possible and with this Noughty shampoos and conditioners they are both 97% natural which is fabulous😍. I love the fact they are very honest about that and having the extra 3% being preservatives to help keep the product for longer since they are natural products. I bought these as my hair is very dry and these are for people with dry, frizzy and damaged hair. It is meant to give a moisture boost to the hair so I had my fingers firmly crossed that these two products would work their magic on my hair.

Noughty have a range of different products with a very affordable price bracket with each product costing under £10 each and thats not the only great thing about the brand the other great things about the brand is they are cruelty free and vegetarian and vegan friendly. The products are also free from petrochemicals, parabens, sulphates and silicones.
noughty to the rescue review
 The Shampoo
This one has sweet almond and sunflower seeds which are meant to help hair transform by smoothing spilt ends, snaps and also frizz too.
The shampoo is thick and clear and I needed about a teabags amount to cover my hair and my hair is just passed my shoulders now.
Enriched with the ingredients; Jojoba oil, Blue mallow flower, Rosemary leaf oil, Coconut oil, Olive Oil, Shea butter and Patchouli Oil.
The Conditioner
The conditioner has two completely different main ingredients to the shampoo and they are shea butter and olive oil and they also help with the above too.
The conditioner is also very thick and feels very smooth too, I needed to a little more of the conditioner to cover my hair because my hair is quite damaged because I like to change my hair so much.
Enriched with these ingredients; Sunflower seed extract, Wheat amino acid, Sweet almond, Olive oil, Coconut oil and Shea butter.
naughty to the rescue review
My Thoughts
In all honesty I just love these both for so many reasons and I will tell you them all because they are all equally important in my books. First up is the smell! they both smell lovely and you tell that they smell very natural too, the fragrances remind me of the time when I use to use Aveda shampoos and conditioners.

I loved how the shampoo cleansed my scalp gently without making my scalp sore as many brand can make my scalp feeling soft. It has a quite an impressive lather too so you can see and feel which parts of the hair are covered.

The conditioner felt lovely and very silky in my hands, I put it on my hair in sections from a inch from my roots all the way down to the tips of my hair.  As I said above I needed a bit more of this since my hair is very thick and a little bit damaged.

I have used them both for a few weeks now and I love them both and defiantly buy them again. The thing I wish they would do is make larger bottles so they would last a bit longer, apart from that they are both brilliant products and recommend them to anyone.

Noughty is available online and in-store at Superdrug stores.

Benecos Natural Beauty | First Impressions

Benecos natural beauty first impressions
Hi Lovelies
I just love trying different makeup brands and the variety of different makeup brands out there is pretty extensive now. Benecos Natural Makeup is a makeup brand that I haven't heard about since recently but I am pretty happy to have found it now and Il tell you all why a bit further down in the post of course.

Benecos Natural Makeup was founded in Spain and the products are also natural and animal friendly. This brand was created because of the limited amount of choices of Eco friendly makeup they were available and also an affordable option too because quite a lot of Eco brands can be relatively expensive.

My Thoughts
This makeup is very affordable and not only that it works very well too. I really like how pigmented everything is and also how long lasting each product is too. Even though the packaging isn't as exciting as a lot of other makeup brands the actually makeup product itself makes up for that. If you are looking for an affordable and Eco friendly makeup option then this brand is perfect.

Joan Collins Timeless Beauty | First Impressions

Joan Collins timeless beauty compact
Hi Lovelies
I am sure lots of us know who Joan Collins is and I know for sure I do! I used to watch her on Dynasty and I always thought she played a brilliant character called Alexis Carrington and wore very elegant clothes with glamorous hair. Over the years she has remained the same and is still as beautiful as ever and I totally believe that age is just a number.

Joan Collins Timeless Beauty is a relatively new luxury makeup brand which is aimed at people of all ages. The brand is inspired by Hollywood glamour and also Joans love of art deco. The brand has many things for sale including lipsticks, palettes and perfumes.
Joan Collins Timeless beauty first impressions
Joan Collins Timeless beauty review
I just love the box that this came in; so damn sturdy and durable! It has gold writing on the front to tell you about the product and also some info on it too. One side has Joan Collins, herself, and the other side has a picture of the makeup inside the compact.

The compact is just as gorgeous as you can see some Hollywood glamour in the design of this, it reminds me a bit of retro makeup palettes that you see online and on Pinterest.

This compact duo of lipstick and powder costs £34.00.

The product itself is very well made and I can say its worth the money in my opinion because you get a lipstick choice of choosing and a pressed powder too. They are both beautifully put inside a compact which has a nice little mirror and a little sponge to put the foundation powder on, so it's a perfect addiction for travelling or putting in your handbag.
Joan Collins Timeless beauty packaging
Joan Collins lipsticks
Both of the products in the compact in my opinion are luxury! I just love them both to be honest and I am so glad that I have finally tried some makeup from this brand. The lipstick is called 'Helene' and is a very retro blue-ish red. Theres a slight scent to it but nothing over-powering, its also very soft almost like velvet when applying to the lips. Once on the lips it give a beautiful glossy look and stays on for so many hours, it's unreal for a glossy lipstick! I had a few coffees with this on and even though there was a tiny bit of lipstick on my cup edge, my lipstick still looked flawless. Absolutely incredible !

The face powder is pretty good too, I have applied it on my liquid foundation to help set it and its worked wonders to help keep my foundation on for that extra bit longer which is a big plus for me,     and not only that, it saves me using my urban decay all-night spray all the time haha.

Dr Botanicals | First Impressions

Dr Botanicals first impressions
Hi Lovelies
With Christmas around the corner, skincare can be the last things on our minds, I know it can with me because all I am thinking about is last minute Christmas presents and also the preparation for Christmas too, it can all get a bit hectic. For me personally I like to have a little skincare regime; one for the morning and also one for last thing at night, that way it helps keep my skin soft and hydrated during the autumn and winter months more easily.

Dr Botanicals is a premium brand I recently discovered online and it is a brand that was founded in London and sells lots of products such as; Serums, Moisturisers and Cleansers. They are a beauty company with a difference who make 100% natural skincare products out of the science of plants. The brand is also cruelty free and contain no harmful preservatives.

Japanese Orange Superfood Facial Oil
I just love using facial oils and serums and honestly using this one was heavenly for so many reasons! First reason is the smell is just divine, as soon as you can smell fresh oranges and honestly its just so refreshing once it goes onto your skin. It has a little top that you squeeze onto skin that just gives you drops at a time, so you can't get too much of this by accident just the right amount. I use about 4 or 5 drops with this to cover my face and neck just before I put a moisturiser on or my makeup

This oil is recommend for people with dry, damaged skin or just for wanting to pamper themselves, because at the end of the day we all deserved to be pampered. My skin is combination skin and this has worked perfectly for me. This oil has key ingredients of this are Rose Otto Oil which contains high levels of vitamin A and C. It also has Neroli oil and also Seabuckthorn fruit oil which is high in vitamins A, C and E also essential fatty acids.

Japanese Orange Vitamin C Repairing Night Moisturiser
Night creams can be so heavenly and this one is for sure. This cream is very thick and creamy, it applies to skin effortlessly and was non greasy too. As with the facial oil this smelled like zesty oranges too and was equally as refreshing. I put around 2 almond size amounts on my face for complete face and neck coverage. I put this moisturiser on just before I go to bed, it is a bit thicker than a day time moisturiser but it helps with skin hydration for the following morning.

This moisturiser is recommend for people with dry sensitive skin and you will guess what I am going to say next... if you want a pamper just go for it. The key ingredients in this are seabuckhorn fruit oil which helps promote skin hydration and calm sensitive skin. Another is coconut oil which help dry and sensitive skin and also  tiare flower which helps with hydration

  • 100% Natural Ingredients
  • Parben and harmful preservative free
  • Hydration
  • Works well on my combination skin, especially the dry patches

  • None
