Vegan Protein Flapjacks | Recipe

vegan protein flapjacks
Hi Lovelies
With the New Year here a lot of us are looking for healthier option foods, I know I sure am. I have had way to many treats over the holiday period and I am looking to get myself fitter and stronger this year and of course the biggest thing I want is to control my PCOS. Snacks can be my biggest problem area because I always seem to grab the ones like chocolate and cakes rather then the healthier options so I decided to make some healthy flapjacks to curb my bad snacking habits.

I thought this would be a brilliant recipe for people taking part Veganuary at the moment so I've made a vegan version of one of my all time favourite snacks and its flapjacks. With some research online I found  you can make healthier versions of them so I decided to give it a whirl and thankfully I did because it turned out quite well if I don't say so myself.

vegan protein flapjacks recipe
What you need

  • Baking tray
  • Grease proof paper
  • Mixing bowl

  • 200g Whole Oats
  • 100g softened dairy free butter
  • 2 ripe banana
  • small handful of raisins or mixed dried fruit
  • 2 teaspoons of agave nectar
  • 10g of Pulsin Pea Protein
vegan protein flapjacks recipe
  1. Preheat oven to gas mark 4
  2. In large bowl put oats, raisins and pulsin pea powder
  3. Mash ripe bananas in a separate bowl then add the agave nectar and the softened butter until they are combined
  4. Put ingredients from the smaller bowl into the large bowl and mix together with hands until thick and its like cookie dough, if its too dry add a little bit of almond milk.
  5. Put the mixture onto grease proof paper on the oven tray. Flatten the mixture to get it into an oblong shape and then add to the oven.
  6. Let it cook in the over for about 20-30 minutes (mine too 25 minutes)
  7. Once cooked put on the side and once cooled cut into 10-12 squares.

I hope you enjoy this recipe.
What should I make next time?

Pure Chimp Matcha Green Tea Review

Pure Chimp Matcha green tea review
 Hi Lovelies
When it comes to green tea, I really have to be in the mood to drink it because I have a love/hate relationship with the taste of it even though I know they are many health benefits of drinking it. I have heard of Matcha Tea over the years and how its like having 10 cups of green in one go, so I have always wanted to see how it tastes and to see if it's actually a better taste than green tea.

Pure Chimp is a Matcha Tea shop and they sell lots of matcha tea products such as Tea, matcha whisk, gift sets and also skincare items too. All the Matcha is 100% natural and the brand itself is vegan society certified. An added bonus with shopping at pure chimp is they have loyalty points so you can save money in the long run.

Pure chimp also donate 5% of there profits to charity and the they also have free delivery on there products too!

How I Enjoy Matcha
There are many ways to enjoy matcha, including baking with it but I enjoyed mine as a warm milky soya matcha tea drink. Firstly I put half a teaspoon of matcha tea in my cup followed by half a cup hot water, I then mix in a teaspoon of honey and once thats melted in I fill the rest of the cup with soya milk and once again I mix it to make sure the matcha tea is dissolved.

It tastes amazing and I can honestly say it tastes a lot more delicate than green tea bags taste. Matcha tea is very similar to green tea but  specially grown/processed green tea, so instead of being in a tea bag form its in a fine powdered form instead, so you get the full benefit of the matcha when you will only be getting part from the green tea, tea bags.

Benefits of Matcha Tea
  • Skin friendly antioxidants ( 100 times more than green tea)
  • Affordable at only 20p per serving ( half a tea spoon a cup)
  • Low caffeine at 35mg per serving
  • Can be used in baking
  • Can be stored for up to 18 months

You can see what they have to offer here, they also have a sale on at the moment because its there 3rd birthday.

Vegan Berry Breakfast Smoothie Recipe

vegan berry breakfast smoothie recipe
Hi Lovelies , In the mornings I like nothing better then to make a healthy option to eat to set me up for the day- well to keep me fuller for longer till at least till lunch time.
For me smoothies are the perfect option as they are so easy to make if you have a selection of fruit and a smoothie maker which are quite easy to find and come in prices everyone can afford. I have the Nutribullet and I have that for over a year now and I cannot fault it at all as it makes the most amazing smoothies effortlessly.
Making combinations together in a smoothie maker is great and eventually you will find a perfect blend that will be a favourite, for smoothies you can use fruits, vegetables, oats and lots of nutritional   stuff too like flaxseed and chia seeds.

Date and Strawberry Smoothie

date and strawberry smoothie
Hi Lovelies
For me smoothies are just perfect as they are so versatile and you can make up any flavour combinations you want, even if you don't like what you make its just really fun making them, saying that most of the time smoothies taste delicious and are so refreshing, especially on a very hot day.

Smoothies are a simple way of getting fruit and vegetables in your diet and making up new smoothies is just brilliant and I came up with this smoothie a few days ago while opening my fast this Ramadan(Iftar) and its so simple yet so tasty with the main ingredients of almond milk, strawberries, bananas and of course dates.
Date and Strawberry Smoothie Recipe
Serves: 2

  • 12 Strawberries - Strawberries are perfect at this time of year and taste so much sweeter than any other time of the year so its great to make the most of them.
  • 4 Dates - I like most varieties of dates and any will work well in this smoothie, don't forget to take the seeds out the dates.
  • 2 Bananas - The riper the better, I like bananas spotty as they are so much sweeter.
  • 300ml Of Unsweetened Almond Milk - Any milk will work with this but almond milk is nice and light and quite refreshing especially if its been kept in the fridge.
  • 2 teaspoons of Chia seeds - I use these as a topping on the smoothie, they look great as decoration and so many health benefits too.
This recipe is very simple and I just put all the ingredients apart from the chia seeds into my nutribullet and the smoothies were made, any smoothie maker or blender would work well though.
Sprinkle the chia seeds over the top of the smoothies once in the glasses.

Mango Smoothie Recipe

Hi Lovelies
Smoothies are a delicious healthy option in the morning or can be enjoyed as a yummy  snack during the day. During the summer months they are a perfect treat and you can make the most of the summer fruits that taste amazing at this time of year, such as O&J Pakistani mangos! Pakistani mangoes are only avalible for a couple of months of the year and they are the most delicious mangoes ever.

Mangoes come in many varieties and this recipe can be made with any mango you like but to me it tastes so much nicer with these mangoes as they are very sweet and versatile with desserts.

-1 Mango ( I used Pakistani Mangoes)
 - 1 Ripe Banana
1 Teaspoon of vanilla
2 Teaspoons of chia seeds
2 Tablespoons of yogurt
200ml of milk (any milk would be fine in this)

Just simply add them to a blender, I use my nutribullet and it works wonders and the smoothie is a nice thick texture but not to thick that you can't drink it.

What is your favorite smoothie?

      Banana Bliss Breakfast Smoothie

      Banana Bliss Breakfast Smoothie Recipe
Banana Bliss Breakfast Smoothie ( Vegan)

I just love having a smoothie every more and have had a smoothie everyday most days now, its part of my healthier routine and I just love how refreshing they make me feel in the morning and not only that they are so much more filling then breakfast cereals.

For every smoothie I make I try get a much fruit and fiber as possible into it to make my start to the day as good as possible. This is a blend of bananas, pineapple, oats ,yogurt and water, a beautiful and tropical way to start the day.
      Banana Bliss Breakfast Smoothie Recipe
      • 2 Ripe bananas ( They taste so much sweeter)
      • Half a cup of frozen pineapple
      • 30g of rolled oats
      • Strawberry and banana alpro yogurt
      • Half a cup of water
      • Teaspoon of maple syrup (optional)

      • Pour the frozen pineapple into the smoothie cup and wait about 10 minutes so they are soft enough but just cold enough to make the smoothie chilled.
      • Slice the 2 bananas into sections, ripe bananas work best with this smoothie as they are a lot sweeter and they is no need to add sugar to this recipe then.
      • Measure out 30g grams of rolled oats and scoop them over the ingredients in the smoothie maker
      • Add the yogurt to the top of the oats, I used the strawberry and banana alpro yogurt.
      • Pour the water over the top of that and blend for about 30 seconds until the smoothie is complexly smooth
      • Enjoy !!

      Lotus Biscuit Cake Recipe

      Lotus Biscuit Vegan Cake
I've always loved baking since my nana taught me to cook when I used to visit her on weekends, she taught me how to make different cakes and I have never forgotten and I am so thankful for her advice on how to cook and bake. I have set myself challenges on making different versions of cakes but obviously vegan versions without using milk and eggs and now I am getting used to using different alternatives in not just baking but in cooking and making smoothies too.

Lotus biscuits are one of my favorite biscuits to have with coffee and I just thought why not make a cake with the lotus biscuit spread and crushed biscuits as a topping and the combination is just divine.

      Cake ingredients
      • 250g of plain flour
      • 250ml of water
      • 200g Caster Sugar
      • 2 Table spoons of Vitalite
      • 1 Teaspoon of cinnamon
      • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
      • 1 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
      • 2 teaspoons of lotus biscuit spread

      Icing and topping
      • 150g of icing sugar
      • 2 teaspoons of lotus biscuit spread
      • Vanila extract
      • 4 Lotus Biscuits

      1. Preheat the oven 180c
      2. Put all the cake mix together into a mixing bowl and then whisk together with an electric whisk until cake mix is quite thick, if need add more water.
      3. Grease the cake tin, so the cake mix won't stick to the tin and the cake will be easier to get out the tin after.
      4. Put the cake mixture into the cake tin and put into the over for about 25 - 30 minutes till the cake starts to get a golden colour.
      5. Once cooked, leave to cool, then place the cake onto to a plate
      6. whisk the icing ingredients together, more or less water might be needed, my advice would be use a teaspoon at a time. Mix all together until thick and apply to the top of the cake and add the crushed biscuit to the top of the cake.
      7. Enjoy!

What cake should I make next time?

      Apple Pie Smoothie Recipe

      apple pie smoothie
I have had the Nutri bullet for months now but I haven't used it for absolutely ages and its been hidden in my cuboard since the summer when I first bought it. I know its terrible what a waste, but the main thing is its out of my cupboard now and I will be using it more often now and trying to make more smoothie combinations and sharing more recipes with you all.
I am trying to loose a bit of weight and tone up a bit more so I have decided to try get more fruit and vegetables in my diet, I know 5 a day is enough and I already get that but  I really tend to want to have like 7-10 portions of fruit and vegetables seeing as I am vegan and the fact I enjoy fruit and vegetables so much .

      • half a cup of Almond Milk
      • 1 tea spoon of Almond butter
      • 1 small organic apple
      • 2 bananas
      • 3 heaped tablespoons of oats
      • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

The nutriblend was brilliant and made making this smoothie look easy and even for me I found it easy to use and has very clear instructions in the manual . The smoothie was smooth like yogurt consistency and easy to drink and was not time consuming.
So pleased with the outcome with this smoothie and it tasted divine and it filled me up for lunch time and I didn't go snack like I usually do. This smoothie tasted a lot like an apple pie but a lot  healthier obviously but I must admit it tasted so lovely I will have to make it again soon.
